God Asks For 100%

1st Friday September 2023
First Friday Conference The Fourteen Holy Helpers have been invoked since the Middle Ages to help with specific needs of the faithful.  St. Augustine is one of the greatest moral and doctrinal theologians in history.  His most famous works are popular even among non-Catholics.  Conversion of life and the mortification of the senses can be extremely difficult.  Temptations can surprise us at any moment and defense against these temptations often takes heroism. It is worth fighting for the things that really matter.  Sensitivity is necessary when practicing charity towards our neighbor.

Deo Gratias

13th Sunday after Pentecost 2023
The Epistle for this Mass is difficult and can be easily misunderstood.  What St. Paul explains regarding the purpose of the Old Law and its preparation for the coming of the Messiah requires careful explanation.  Since we enjoy the benefits of the New Law and the graces which Our Lord won for us, we must be on guard against the sin of ingratitude.  Just like the lepers in the Gospel, it is easy for us to take for granted the unfathomable gifts we have received.  Our souls should be spiritually prostrated before God and the words “Deo Gratias” should be always in our hearts.

What She Has Done For Us

Assumption Evening 2023
The Holy Mother of God is Queen, even of the angels.  We cannot imagine the great rejoicing in Heaven on this day.  It is believed that Our Lord Himself came and took His Mother back to Heaven.  We may not have been present for the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Assumption but before long, we will join in the celebration of Heaven.  It is impossible for us to appreciate how much we owe Her for all that She has done for us, and we will never stop thanking Her.

He Bought The World

Precious Blood 2023
This feast is the liturgical completion of Good Friday, the day when the Precious Blood was poured out for our salvation.  In these days when our holy Faith is in danger and under attack, we recall the great heritage of martyrs who shed their blood in imitation of Christ.  At the true Mass we have no doubt what takes place at the Consecration.  Christ’s death continues to the end of time and we are invited to be part of it.  If not for the Precious Blood no sins would be forgiven.

Devotion Of The Last Age

Sacred Heart 2023
The coldness and indifference of our age is a most frightening problem.  Children depend on the love of their parents to give them a sense of worth and security.  Our Lord says that He has given this devotion to all in need of love and that He will reign in spite of Satan and whatever stands in His way.  Our Lord’s Heart is a human heart but it is unimaginably sensitive.  He craves our love.  We must be grateful and must honor Our Lord’s Sacred Heart.  We must trust Him, knowing that He desires our happiness more than we do.

The Reason For All Reality

Trinity Sunday 2023
God is infinite, eternal and uncreated and He depends on no creature for His existence.  God willed to reveal something of His infinite love and He did so through His creation.  God has condescended to tell us about Himself in the revealed truth of the Holy Trinity.  It is such a profound mystery that we cannot explain it because this mystery is infinite and we are finite.  Whenever we need help from God in any of our trials or necessities, we may make The Sign of The Cross and invoke the aid of the Blessed Trinity.

One Redeemer, One Priesthood

Low Sunday 2023
50th Priestly Anniversary of Fr. Ward
We are here first to love and honor God, because this day is dedicated to thanking Him.  We thank God for sending us a holy priest, for the Church, and for her truth.  What better day to speak about the priesthood than the day on which we were given the sacrament of Penance.  The words of Our Lord, “you shall be holy because I am holy,” were said to everyone, but first of all to His priests.  It was Christ who said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God.”  Priests are privileged to share in the royal lineage as Christ Himself.

We Must Obey To Be Saved

20th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
The official in the Gospel for this Mass traveled a long distance to find Christ, but was rebuked for his lack of faith.  Yet, Christ rewarded the little faith he had, curing his child, and converting his whole household into some of the very first Christians.  St. Paul tells us that God’s Will is that we pray continuously and redeem the time we have wasted.  We must not be foolish with this precious gift of time.  What would the people in hell give for a little more time?  If we do not practice obedience and give up our will, we can be sure we lack the other virtues.  We must act for God and our neighbor, not for our own desires.

Forgetting Self

15th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
The Epistle for this Mass warns us against vanity.  It should be easy for us to see our neighbor as better than we are, because we know our own sins and we do not know how others will be judged.  How humble should we be when we remember that our sins affect the whole Mystical Body and make us deserving of hell?  We must hate our sins, love those who despise us, and embrace the humiliations that God sees fit to send us.

Peace Is Restored Through The Cross

The Exultation Of The Holy Cross 2022
We honor the Holy Cross with a spirit of joy in this liturgy.  It is important for us to know the history of this feast.  The first victory under the banner of the cross was that of Emperor Constantine, in which he conquered the powers of evil by God’s help.  His mother, St. Helena, led the expedition to recover the true Cross from Jerusalem and centuries later, Emperor Heraclius led his armies to combat the pagan world and return the Cross to its rightful home.  This instrument of torture has become the instrument of our salvation, and it is only through the Cross that true peace is restored.  “For the sake of Jesus, let us persevere on the cross.”
