No Salvation Without Belief

13th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
In the collect of this Mass we beg for an increase of the three theological virtues.  If we do not believe, we cannot be saved.  This is why we must be continually taught the catechism.  We see that the lepers of the Gospel were cured because of their faith and trusting hope in divine providence.  If we are not thankful for the many gifts we have been given, God may withdraw His grace in the future.  Those graces that are rejected by us will be offered to another, so the gifts of God must never be taken lightly.

The More I Will Bless You

12th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
Enthronement Of The Holy Infant Of PragueThe popularity of the devotion to Our Lord in the image of the Holy Infant of Prague has spread worldwide.  After the original image had been treated with disregard and forgotten for many years, through the miraculous direction from Heaven, it was restored to its former place of honor.  The inviting words of encouragement spoken by Christ, “the more you honor Me, the more I will bless you,” have touched the hearts of so many faithful who now approach the Holy Infant in the hopes that He grant them the love and simplicity of little children so that they may enter with Him into the kingdom of God.

A More Perfect Humility

10th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
This Mass is a Mass for the proud.  Every aspect of this liturgy has some reference to the superior moral virtue of humility.  The Gospel exemplifies humility in the publican, but as we advance in the practice of this virtue our understanding of it must develop as well.  Not only must we acknowledge our nothingness and need, but we must appreciate God’s gifts and benefits to us all the more.  This is how we prevent our humility from remaining focused on self, and this is why the Epistle of this Mass focuses on God’s many gifts.

God’s Heart

Sacred Heart 2022
The highest function of which we are capable in this life is the act of love.  In Heaven, from the intimate knowledge of the divine Essence, flows an ineffable love, which we will direct towards God for all eternity.  We come from an age of profound neglect of the clergy in their effort to explain the fundamental doctrines of the Faith.  Too few Catholics know and love the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Our Lord promised to St. Margaret Mary that he would pour forth lavishly the influence of His divine love on all who honor His Sacred Heart.  He gave us this devotion at the dawn of the last age as a remedy to a cold, cruel, and faithless world.  How did Our Lord choose to appear in the Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano?  He desired that His Heart would remain with us forever.  Proper devotion to the Sacred Heart is found in one who surrenders completely to our Divine Master and asks nothing in return.  We love in return for the love He has shown us.

Priest After The Heart of Christ

Ember Friday In Advent 2021 & Profession Day
Congratulations for bravery, fearlessness and confidence in God as you pledge yourself to our religious community in the pursuit of sanctity and infused prayer. This is your next step on the road to the priesthood.  Follow St. Paul’s advice to forget what is past and strain forward for the future prize.  The devil hates priests and those preparing for ordination; however, not for you to worry because you are invincible and invulnerable thanks to God’s help. What is the characteristic of a good priest?  Such a priest imitates the Sacred Heart and communicates His love to all.  The priest should not live and preach as a sterile professor but with a fiery heart like Our Lord’s.

Remember Death

All Souls Day, Evening 2021
The ancient pagan art in Rome often had death as its theme.  We too should meditate on death but Christianize it by seeing the goal as God in heaven.  Some of our brethren have not achieved the goal yet and are in Purgatory.  We can assist them by praying for them and teaching others, especially our children, to pray for them.  By taking a moment to help the Holy Souls we will be gaining friends for eternity.

The Care Of Sacred Things

14th Sunday After Pentecost 2021
God and His worship is the most important thing on this earth and everything that surrounds Him and the Liturgy are treated with the utmost respect and care.  This explains all that we do and why we encourage all to do the same.  Today is also the feast of the beheading of St. John the Baptist who perfectly parallels Our Lord in having a miraculous birth, a private and public life and a passion and death.  St. Paul’s epistle describes the fruits of the Holy Ghost which are the benefits of those advanced in the spiritual life who achieve virtuous acts with ease.  The Gospel is the warning by Christ that we must not compromise with the mammon of the world.  This is a particular monitum for parents who instill material instead of supernatural values in their children.

The Battle For Our Youth

13th Sunday After Pentecost 2021
This Mass pleads that God will not forsake us, His poor lambs, and He answers that prayer saying “I will not leave you orphans” and sending us the Bread from heaven which contains all sweetness within It.  St. Paul warns against those who would preach a false Gospel  and he directs his converts to resist them.  Our Lord teaches the necessity of thanksgiving through the story of the ten lepers.  Today is also the feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the special devotion for this month.  Finally, a reminder to the young that they need not wait until they grow up to know what God wants them to do right now.  Even as young people their importance is seen by the efforts of the evil one to destroy them.  With God’s grace they will triumph and will become great saints.

You Know That I Love You

Visitation Of The Blessed Virgin Mary 2021
The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin, St. Elizabeth, three days after the Annunciation, resulted in the sanctification of St. John the Baptist in the womb of his mother.  This was made known by the leaping for joy that St. Elizabeth felt in her womb.  Pope Pius IX raised this feast to a higher rank because the city of Rome was freed from the Freemasons on this day.  Today is also the feast of Saints Processus and Martinian who were the last jailers of Saints Peter and Paul.  The Modernists hate this feast because it signals the final victory of the Church over the forces of evil.  This week was the feast of Saints Peter and Paul also and Our Lord had St. Peter repair for his three denials by three protestations of love.  St. Peter proved his love by the shedding of his own blood which is necessary for any true sacrifice.  An expanded view of the Church inspired by symbols found in the Bible inspires all to fidelity and love of Christ.
