2nd Sunday after Pentecost 2022 With the vocation of fatherhood being so attacked in the world today, it is more important than ever for Catholic fathers to hold fast to the holy principals of their vocation. True manhood, with its accompanying virtues of perseverance, responsibility, and love of neighbor, is the essential foundation for this vocation. The father as the head of the family is responsible before all others for, not only the intellectual, but also the spiritual education of his children. Trinity Sunday 2022 Although the feast of the Holy Trinity did not exist in the earliest days of the Church, today it is presented as a crown of glory to the Divine Majesty. Belief in the three Persons of the Blessed Trinity, all equal in nature and perfections, is not only necessary for our own salvation, but it is a dogma that we are called to share with the unbelieving world. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” is a command to all of us. #20220612K
4th Sunday After Easter 2022 “Do not let the sun go down on your anger.” In hearing these words, we must remember that this refers to unjust anger. The irascible passion of anger, when justified, is not only important but even necessary. This is why we are told to, “be angry, and sin not.”
The Spirit of God will magnify the Son by expressing all His goodness, holiness, and truth. This recalls to mind the words of the Blessed Virgin, “My soul magnifies the lord…”. Not only all of creation, but particularly the virtue and humility of God’s creatures expresses the His glory.
The children who receive Holy Communion today remind us all of the happiest day of our own lives, when we received the Holy Eucharist for the first time. Even those who have left the true Faith still admit that this was the happiest event of their lives.
The beautiful clothes of the children reflect the beauty of their souls, now prepared for welcome Christ. We are ready to become Christ’s home. He made us that He might come to us and also bring us to Himself. Every gift received is from Christ, who loves us more than any mother or father could.
People forget these basic truths and live lives of pleasure, pride, and greed. At the end of their lives they are filled with great fear, knowing they must leave everything behind. We must avoid the tricks of the devil and bad friends and remain always faithful to Our Lord in this Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. #20220515
Easter Sunday 2022 Lent has passed by quickly but we take away the lesson that the “Imitation of Christ” reiterates for us that we win heaven by work and suffering. With the Resurrection we share in the happiness of being with Our Lord once again. Christ has proved that He conquered sin by overcoming its consequence, death. As soon as He rose again He visited His Blessed Mother and later St. Mary Magdalen and all the others during His active Easter Sunday. We must not let the fervor and devotion that carried us the past forty days subside so that we are reduced to anything less than our spiritual enthusiasm today. We must build on what we have so to draw closer to our Risen Lord and Savior. #20220417K
Third Sunday In Lent 2022 Yesterday’s feast of St. Joseph with the solemn Mass was another encouraging grace during our Lenten retreat days. Now St. Joseph prepares us for this week’s feast of the Annunciation which celebrates the Incarnation and the beginning of our redemption. Every day in Lent has its own Mass and stational church which are meant to give us unique graces as we prepare for Holy Week. Recent Masses taught us the devotion we should have to the Holy Eucharist and another the punishments that follow upon on sins of lying. Today the catechumens were again given lessons and blessings along their path to Baptism. These same rituals are part of the baptismal ceremonies. St. Paul’s Epistle instructs us on evils to avoid and how to do so. These are critical especially for parents who have been given the responsibility to raise their children as God wants. The Gospel tells about Our Lord’s exorcising the devil and His defense of the blasphemies brought against Him by the Pharisees. The account ends with praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary which Our Lord elevated to a supernatural order. #20220320M
Sermon On The Feast of St. Joseph 2022 Devotion to St. Joseph can be seen in the testimony of St. Teresa, Mary of Agreda and the prophetic words of Isidore of Isolanus. It flows from his vocation as spouse of the Mother of God which was an essential component of the Incarnation and guarding of Our Lady and the Son of God. St. Joseph had purity which enabled him to fulfill this role, not only towards the Blessed Virgin but as a virginal father to Christ in imitation of God the Father. St. Joseph was a pious man who led the Holy Family in their liturgical observances and is the first traditional Catholic. He often was faced with challenges that tested his virtue, but he relied on God for assistance which always came. Therefore St. Joseph is patron of all people and walks of life so we can go to him with confidence. #20220319
4th Sunday After Epiphany 2022 This week we will bless throats in honor of St. Blaise. The Holy Ghost through St. Paul writes that we should owe no man anything except to love one another. This endorses living debt free, as much as possible, but it does not include being free of charity which all must practice. Charity is the greatest of all the virtues, including the other theological ones. Without charity we are lost. It is the only thing that can make us happy here and in heaven. The second part of today’s Mass is the reminder that Christ is in complete control of everything and that we must never lose trust in Him. Finally, we learn about the upcoming feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. #20220130
2nd Sunday After Epiphany 2022 The Wedding Feast at Cana is the Gospel for today and the third theophany that marks the feast of the Epiphany. January 6th celebrates the coming of the Magi but it remembers the Baptism of Our Lord and His first miracle at Cana. The Blessed Mother played a pivotal role in sensitively alerting her Son to the need of the bride and groom. Her intercession prompted the providential anticipation of Christ’s hour to begin His mission with the miracle of changing water into wine. This brought the disciples to believe in Him. During these days of sickness that all are experiencing it is good to remember not to waste our sufferings but offer them up. #20220116K
Feast Of The Holy Family 2022 This first Sunday after the Epiphany begins the short season of manifesting the divinity of God made Man. The Gospel contains the first words of the Word made Flesh and clearly reveal He is completely aware of His identity and mission. The Holy Family is the model for all of us who belong to families and Pope Leo teaches in his encyclical about the domestic life of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and how our families should imitate them. This is also the 45th anniversary of the beginning of our religious community and a time for thanksgiving. It is a reminder that one must follow principles no matter the sacrifice entailed and maintain loyalty. God, who permits evil so to draw good from it, will do the rest. #20220109M
The Holy Name Of Jesus 2022 This day can also be called the feast of God’s friendship with man. It began to be celebrated in the fifth century but its origins reach back to the Old Testament when God first gave His Name of “Yahweh” which means “I am, Who Am” to Moses. The reverence towards this Name was such that it could only be spoken once a year by the high priest in the Holy of Holies. Once God became man He was given the Name of Jesus meaning Savior. Now we are encouraged to say God’s Name often and if done repeatedly on our deathbed St. Francis de Sales said we will have a peaceful death. #20220102B
