Peace and Rest

Vigil of Christmas 2023
Today the Church cries out, “We will have Him to rule over us!”  This Mass is like an early celebration of Christmas.  “Come Lord and Reign!” says the Alleluia verse.  According to St. Ignatius Martyr, the reason St. Joseph was betrothed to the Blessed Virgin Mary was to hide the miracle of her virginal conception from the devil, who was searching for the fulfillment of that prophecy.  Today we know that the Lord is coming, and tomorrow we will be with Him in the manger through the Holy Eucharist.

Freedom From Anxiety

3rd Sunday of Advent 2023
Gaudete Sunday – This is a day in which we take joy in our Catholic Faith, a day without anxiety or trouble of heart.  We must make our petitions known to God, trusting that they will be answered in the best way possible.  God gives us the grace to ask for the helps we need.  Those who are of good will enjoy peace in this life.  The patrons of Advent are the prophet Isaias, St. John the Baptist, and the Blessed Virgin.  We must strive to remove whatever is in our life which impairs our union with Our Lord.

Am I Not Your Mother?

Evening Sermon on the Feast of
The Immaculate Conception 2023
Pope Pius IX, invoking his infallibility, proclaimed the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1854.  Our Lady was saved in a unique way by her preservation from Original Sin at the moment of her Immaculate Conception.  The Epistle for this feast was applied to the Virgin Mary by the Church to emphasize that she was always in God’s mind.  The faithful have always believed this dogma, supported by Holy Scripture, since the beginning of Christianity.  Our Country is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception.

The Sabbatine Privilege

7th Sunday After Pentecost 2023
Our Lady of Mount Carmel – We must not be deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing.  There are many false teachers in the church who use the same language as true Catholics but mean something different.  In the disastrous results of modernism in the Church, we see the bad fruit of false prophets.  The Carmelite Order is the only religious order that has its origins in the Old Testament.  The Order fled to Europe when it fell under persecution and was placed under the rule of St. Simon Stock.  In great discouragement, St. Simon was visited by the Blessed Mother who gave him the scapular saying, “Whosoever dies clothed in this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.”

Your Path to Heaven

Feast Of The Holy Family 2023
In these days, when the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Mother is so often attacked by the world, we must defend the doctrine that she was virgin before, during, and after the birth of Christ.  Because the pain suffered in childbirth is a consequence of original sin, the Mother of God, who was free from sin and its consequences, did not suffer any such pains.  Christ is the model of obedience, that supernatural virtue which inclines us to submit to lawful authority.  If the Son of God was willing to submit to men, who are we to resist the virtue of obedience?

God’s Gift to Man

Christmas Midnight Mass 2022
This is the Feast of light, the Feast of Hope, the Feast of Victory, but this feast is also a Gift to us.  A gift is valuable because it contains the giver, just as offering a meal to a friend is a way of sharing oneself.  This is most perfectly exemplified in the fact that God truly gave us Himself.  While our enemies want us to forget this great gift of the Incarnation, we must resist and fight, for ourselves and for our children.  We must stand united, and we must love God better.

The Rosary Of Peace

18th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
“Pray the Rosary for peace…”  This was the instruction of the Blessed Mother at Fatima.  We were given this great sacramental for our protection, so that we might pray with the Holy Mother of God and through her, and she might supply what is lacking in our prayers.  In reciting the Rosary, the whole man is occupied – his body, his imagination, his intellect.  We need not focus on the individual details of each mystery, but rather let the mysteries envelop us, removing all earthly ambitions and fears, and granting us a taste of the love of God.

The More I Will Bless You

12th Sunday After Pentecost 2022
Enthronement Of The Holy Infant Of PragueThe popularity of the devotion to Our Lord in the image of the Holy Infant of Prague has spread worldwide.  After the original image had been treated with disregard and forgotten for many years, through the miraculous direction from Heaven, it was restored to its former place of honor.  The inviting words of encouragement spoken by Christ, “the more you honor Me, the more I will bless you,” have touched the hearts of so many faithful who now approach the Holy Infant in the hopes that He grant them the love and simplicity of little children so that they may enter with Him into the kingdom of God.

Fundamentals For Fatherhood

2nd Sunday after Pentecost 2022
With the vocation of fatherhood being so attacked in the world today, it is more important than ever for Catholic fathers to hold fast to the holy principals of their vocation.  True manhood, with its accompanying virtues of perseverance, responsibility, and love of neighbor, is the essential foundation for this vocation.  The father as the head of the family is responsible before all others for, not only the intellectual, but also the spiritual education of his children.  In following the example of the great saintly fathers of Catholic history, men will be able to meet the expectation of this most necessary calling.

Ite Ad Joseph

Sermon On The
Feast of St. Joseph 2022
Devotion to St. Joseph can be seen in the testimony of St. Teresa, Mary of Agreda and the prophetic words of Isidore of Isolanus.  It flows from his vocation as spouse of the Mother of God which was an essential component of the Incarnation and guarding of Our Lady and the Son of God.  St. Joseph had purity which enabled him to fulfill this role, not only towards the Blessed Virgin but as a virginal father to Christ in imitation of God the Father.  St. Joseph was a pious man who led the Holy Family in their liturgical observances and is the first traditional Catholic.  He often was faced with challenges that tested his virtue, but he relied on God for assistance which always came.  Therefore St. Joseph is patron of all people and walks of life so we can go to him with confidence.
