Grace, Love And Union

Assumption Day 2017
Through Our Lady’s Assumption God has empowered the Mother of God with extraordinary intercessory power which enables Our Lady at Fatima to promise salvation to those who embrace devotion to Her Immaculate Heart.  The anticipated resurrection of the Blessed Mother is one of the reasons why She can assure heaven to Her devotees.  The Immaculate Conception and the Blessed Virgin Mary’s fullness of grace and love are causes of Her Assumption.  Her union with the Passion and Death of Her Son is a further reason for Her joining Him in His Resurrection and Ascension.

I Will Save Through The Rosary

Feast Of St. Dominic – 1st Friday August 2017

St. Dominic travelled through southern France on a trip to Rome with his bishop in the 13th century and he was moved with compassion for the plight of the fallen away Catholics there who were deceived by an ancient heresy which had made a resurgence and was known as Catharism (or Albigensianism).  St. Dominic besought the help of the Blessed Mother when his efforts were not successful and Our Lady told him to use Her Rosary as an aid to his preaching.  This assured him success and has done the same throughout the centuries as seen at Lepanto and Belgrade, for examples.  The Blessed Virgin Mary promised that someday She would save the world through the Rosary.

Imitate And Obtain What Is Promised

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary 2016

After hearing the story of the Blessed Mother weaving a crown of roses with the Hail Marys said by a monk reciting the Rosary, we learn about the chalice dedicated to the Holy Rosary and how it was given to us.  The Rosary helped Father with his vocation and is a hallmark of all vocations.  St. Dominic used it to convert heretics and it is the remedy for all times.  We rest in Our Lady’s promise that one day she will save the world through the Rosary.  Pray it daily as requested at Fatima.

The Importance Of The Rosary

Sermon From
20th Sunday After Pentecost 2015
This year marks the 500th anniversary of the birth of St. Teresa of Avila and her feast is this week.  Her quotes show her to be a traditionalist and a teacher of prayer.  Today is also the feast of the Divine Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Last week was the feast honoring the Rosary and we are reminded of the importance of this powerful sacramental, what it is and how we should pray it efficaciously.  At Fatima the Blessed Mother revealed to the three children on October 13, 1917 when the Miracle of the Sun took place her identity as the Lady of the Rosary.  Besides the Rosary she taught them how to offer up their daily little sacrifices in reparation for the sins of the world and for their own sanctification.

Mass Of Loyalty

Sermon From The
19th Sunday After Pentecost 2014
This month is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and this sacramental is so powerful that just carrying it is important and beneficial.  The Rosary is a contemplative prayer which is adaptable to communal recitation that can be difficult for some, especially children.  The Introit tells us that God will save us and we must resist the devil.  The Gospel about the marriage feast parallels Christ’s life and stresses the importance of having grace in order to participate in the Sacred Banquet.  Loyalty is being faithful to God, His Church and the Faith.  It continues its influence into our families and friends.  Parents have the responsibility to teach this to their children so that they inculcate this virtue into all their relationships in life.

A Mélange

Sermon From
17th Sunday After Pentecost 2014
Today will be a mixture of considerations based on the feasts presented to us through the liturgy of these days.  A favorite of ours is that of the Angels who are so much a part of our lives and not always appreciated.  Even the pagan philosophers knew about them.  We have experienced their aid many times.  We are given ten important truths about the angels to stimulate our devotion to them.  We have another great saint to celebrate and that is St. Francis of Assisi.  His biography is charming and encouraging because he was just like us as a typical son of a middle class businessman.  He was converted by hearing a Gospel verse and in a short life reached heights of sanctity which brought him a restoration of original justice.  His prophecy of a future leader with his name that would be a destroyer is chilling.  In conclusion we recall the feasts of the Rosary and Divine Maternity.
