Our Rise or Our Fall

Sunday within the Christmas Octave 2023
No longer are we slaves of the law, no longer are we separated from God.  God has made us His friends.  He loves every creature He has created but He is forced, so to speak, to hate the sinner by the sinner’s own choice.  God’s irrational creatures fulfill His will by necessity, but we have been given a free will and the ability to choose.  Our friendship with God may be maintained by simply following His commandments as His other creatures do.  We must ask ourselves if throughout the previous year we have risen to the role of true Christians or if we are Christians only in name.

A Silent And Holy Night

Christmas Midnight Mass 2023
It is a true joy to relive the happiness of that night in Bethlehem in which our Savior was born.  It was in silence and solitude Our Lord entered the world.  Just as Christ passed through the rock of His tomb at the moment of His Resurrection, He passed through the womb of the Blessed Mother, without violating her virginity.  This chapel is our Bethlehem, in which we relive the moments of the Nativity.  We are united with all of our forefathers throughout the history of the Church.  Our Lord came not only for the glory of His Father, but for us and our salvation.  Christmas is the beginning of Christ’s victory over the world.

Peace and Rest

Vigil of Christmas 2023
Today the Church cries out, “We will have Him to rule over us!”  This Mass is like an early celebration of Christmas.  “Come Lord and Reign!” says the Alleluia verse.  According to St. Ignatius Martyr, the reason St. Joseph was betrothed to the Blessed Virgin Mary was to hide the miracle of her virginal conception from the devil, who was searching for the fulfillment of that prophecy.  Today we know that the Lord is coming, and tomorrow we will be with Him in the manger through the Holy Eucharist.

No Hope Without Tribulation

Second Sunday of Advent 2023
With great hope we are reminded of eternity during this season.  All virtue builds on nature, and the same is true of the virtue of hope.  Hope cannot exist without difficulty and tribulation.  We hope in God, not despite our sufferings, but in light of our sufferings.  The saints took great joy in their tribulations because they knew God wished for them to live the life of His Son.  Adversity opens the eyes which prosperity holds shut.  We must fight the good fight in this life if we wish to be glorified in the next.

Our Lady’s Two Loves

Sermon on the Feast of
The Immaculate Conception 2023
This dogma has always been believed by the Christian world, but more recently it was made gravely binding for every Catholic to believe.  The Virgin Mary was redeemed more perfectly than the rest of men.  She was preserved from all stain of original sin by an anticipation of the future merits of Jesus Christ.  She was given the initial plenitude of grace at conception, but her capacity to receive Sanctifying Grace grew with her throughout her life.  God knew the evil of man after his fall, so God promised that he would put enmity between the devil and the woman.  The Blessed Mother has both the heart of a virgin and the heart of a mother.

Sanctification Through The Liturgy

First Sunday of Advent 2023
On this first day of the liturgical year, we begin with a view of the end of time.  It is a warning for the enemies of Christ.  A day is coming when God will judge the nations.  This is a Gospel of hope.  “Christ loves us too much not to share His sufferings and joys.”  The ordinary means of sanctification is the holy liturgy.  It conforms us to Christ.  It brings the mysteries of Christ to life on the altar.  In the season of Advent, we share in the preparation of all the patriarchs and prophets for Christ’s coming.

The Power of Desire

Last Sunday after Pentecost 2023
In this Epistle we are encouraged when St. Paul tells us that he never stops praying for us.  Yet we can still be lost if we do not desire to follow God’s will for us.  The greatest proof of union with God’s will is joy in adversity.  How much we should thank God and how seldom we do.  This day reminds us that soon the world will end, and we must prepare for our judgment.  In Heaven we will think the thoughts of God and love Him with His own love.  If our desire for love is great, we will obtain the fruit of that desire and the happiness of Heaven.

True Affection For The Dead

All Souls Day Evening 2023
Our bodies at the time of death are separated from our souls and undergo corruption.  All the souls of the departed will hear the voice of the Son of God at the Last Judgment.  It is an ancient practice, and one that is natural to man, to pray for the dead.  We must be punished for our sins.  Even if our guilt is removed in the sacrament of Penance, we must still make up for our sins.  Purgatory is a place of mercy, and we have the ability to aid the souls detained there.  Our Faith is based on worshiping God and the salvation of our souls.

Pray For Their Rest

All Souls Day 2023
The Mass of the dead is really the Mass of life.  Virtually nobody prays for the dead, which is a great injustice.  Although Purgatory is not formally denied, it is simply never mentioned.  We must pray for the priests and religious who held fast to the true traditions of our Faith, and all the faithful who were buried from our Chapel.  When we die, we are incapable of making any more choices, and are unable to merit or demerit.  Nothing sullied can be in the presence of God, and the justice of God demands that we make up for our sins.  Few people in this life make satisfaction for their temporal punishment so God in his mercy offers them Purgatory.  It is a place of great joy and great longing.  God has ennobled our prayers so that what we pray can affect our neighbor.  God will grant mercy to the Holy Souls on the condition that we ask.

We Have No King But Christ

Christ The King 2023
Salvation is all that matters.  It is necessary that every person and every government should be Catholic.  Today the Church authorities tell us that we must not make converts.  This is cruelty because charity demands that we help our neighbor.  Christ said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”  When we pray “Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven,” we are asking for the social kingship of Christ.  Christ is the absolute and supreme King.  We must take courage because Christ has overcome the world.
