We Must Aim High

Good Friday 2026
On this day of great sorrow, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is considered too consoling.  This ceremony is so ancient that we can trace its origins back to the Apostolic age.  In the first part of this ceremony, we see the celebrant prostrate himself on the floor in an expression of the greatest sorrow for what we have done.  We should not be deluded into thinking we would have been heroic if we had lived alongside Christ.  At best we would have been cowards like the Apostles, at worst we would have been Judas.  May our Redeemer cast a look at us as He did for St. Peter, so we might be forever changed.  Our Lord is praying for us during this ceremony.  Christ chose to die in this way, not out of necessity, but so He might win our hearts.

Hail Our Triumphant King!

The purpose of the liturgy is to enter into the life of Christ, and it is through the liturgy that we are sanctified.  In the Liturgy, time ceases and Heaven is brought to earth.  Unlike the triumphant, military marches which took place during Our Lord’s time, when He entered His city, it was in humility.  He did not lead His conquered, enslaved enemies in parade, but led His willing servants and followers.  A king can reign by right of birth, by right of conquest, or by election.  Our Lord is King in all three ways.  He is and will always remain King – King of those who accept Him and King of those who reject Him.  When we receive our palms and carry them with us into the world, we proclaim without hesitation or shame that we are followers of our triumphant Monarch, and we look forward to the day when the whole world will be forced to acknowledge His dominion.

Our Comforter and Our Guide

Feast Of Saint Joseph 2026
The Child Jesus listened to St. Joseph, loved him, and called him “Father.”  This is what we are supposed to do.  We are commanded to go to St. Joseph.  We are at peace knowing that we are in his caring hands, and that he will keep us safe in times of temptation.  Although, St Joseph was not preserved from original sin, it is believed that he was sanctified in the womb, as St. John the Baptist, and lived a sinless life.  The experimental knowledge of Jesus Christ obtained in His life was taught to Him by St. Joseph.  The outstanding virtues of humility, poverty, and chastity possessed by this saint were beyond all reckoning.  We must never cease asking him to aid us in our duties.  How faithfully and unquestioningly he fulfilled the duties of his life.  He is our guide throughout our life and especially at the hour of our death.  Through his intercession, as Patron of the Dying, we may have a holy and happy death.

His First Offering

Feast of the Purification 2026
The season of Septuagesima gives us a reason to examine our consciences.  We learn that God created all things good, including man, but through the devil Adam fell, and sin was introduced to the world.  Grace will not work in us if our concupiscence remains untamed.

Because the womb of the Immaculate Mother was never opened and no blood was shed at the Nativity, she was exempt from the law of purification.  It was due to her humility and desire to be united with sinners that she underwent this ceremony.  When one becomes a parent, he or she is a caretaker of the child, but that child still belongs to God.  Parents are bound to love their children as God does, not to indulge their every desire.  This day the Virgin Mary became our Sorrowful Mother in anticipation of her suffering at the foot of the Cross.  Just as the Temple of old could not be entered without first offering sacrifice, we cannot enter Heaven without the sacrifice of Christ which opens its gates to us.

A Prayerful Man

It is believed that the angels sang the words “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” and even sang the entire Gloria as we sing it today.  From the most ancient times, this beautiful hymn of praise has been sung to God.  We will never be able to understand how God could become one of His creatures.  If you want to accomplish anything in life, it must be through prayer.  St. Bonaventure taught us this lesson.  Every Catholic should appreciate how necessary it is to pray.  It is easy for us to love, and a heart of love is a heart of prayer.

Holy Anticipation

Sermon on the 4th Sunday of Advent 2025
Although he is not commemorated when his feast falls on a Sunday, St. Thomas the Apostle is a great saint who should be remembered by all Catholics. Because of his doubt, we were all given a proof of the bodily Resurrection of Our Lord. To this day we repeat his beautiful words: “My Lord and my God!”
This day is all about sorrow for our sins and preparation of the coming of Christ. In the early years of the Church, the Christians would gather in the ancient St. Peter’s Basilica for a vigil Mass. We pray just as the early Catholics that we will remain as faithful as possible during these last days of preparation. After asking for forgiveness for our sins, with a contrite heart, we should not think of ourselves anymore but fix our attention on God alone.

The Spiritual Crusade

Gaudete Sunday – This day, which expresses a mitigated joy in the midst of suffering, has a more profound meaning for us now than ever before.  To suffer joyfully with Christ is truly what it means to be a Christian.  We have been given a wonderful example of this self-sacrificing love in Maria de la Luz who courageously stood against the enemies of the Church and willingly sacrificed her life for Our Lord.  In our current day, we must face persecution with the same steadfast spirit, and use every attack as a greater impetus to strive for sanctity.

Her Unique Redemption

Immaculate Conception 2025
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have shown their loyalty, support, and love in the face of the attacks of the enemies of the Faith.

Pope Pius IX had said that declaring the dogma of the Immaculate Conception was one of the greatest moments of his life.  It was as if Our Lord Himself were speaking when this dogma was defined.  The Blessed Mother was redeemed in a more perfect way than the rest of mankind.  She was not liberated from sin but preserved from it.  Sanctifying grace is the greatest gift we have been given in this life, and the Virgin Mary possessed this gift from the first instant of her existence.  Though she was not under the curse of Adam and the punishment of death, she died in imitation of and in union with her Divine Son. The love of the Blessed Mother for her Son was sensitive and intense and we, who were given to her on Calvary, share in that love.

Our Historical Moment

Second Sunday of Advent 2025
St. Paul is our Apostle and his words in this Epistle are directed to us.  We can only remain hopeful if we do not rely on ourselves.  St. John the Baptist knew that Our Lord was the Messias.  He only sent his followers to question Christ to prove that fact to them.

We are witnessing a historical time in the Church.  The faithful are facing a heavy-handed tyranny which seeks to exterminate the traditional beliefs and practices of our Faith.  We must prioritize God above everything else in our life in this historical moment.  No one can separate us from the love of Christ and His Holy Mother.

The Attacks on God’s Church

1st Sunday of Advent 2025
Evil has existed in the world from the very beginning and within the Church since the time of the Apostles.  Throughout the ages, the devil has attempted time and again to attack and destroy the true Church.  In recent times, the Church was infiltrated by communists and freemasons.  The abuses introduced by the Second Vatican Council were in direct defiance of Pope St. Pius V’s Quo Primum and the perennial teaching and practice of Catholics.  The unprecedented crisis we find ourselves in today is a clear demonstration of the fruits of this council.  We should thank God often for what he has given us in these times of persecution.  We should look forward to receiving the Son of God on Christmas Day as Our Lady and St. Joseph desired to see Him before He entered the world.
