Saint Pius X, Our Pope

1st Friday Conference, October 2021
This conference begins with a sobering account of the current problems with the validity of the sacraments because of the devil’s hatred of priests and the means of salvation.  The story of today’s Saint Remy is encouraging in the face of this new paganism because this holy bishop baptized Clovis which began the life of the eldest daughter of the Church – France.  This month is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and quotations about it from the saints encourage us to pray it devoutly.  Finally, we recall our holy pope, St. Pius X, who enriched the Church and souls during his papacy.  His love for God and neighbor was evident in his efforts to preserve the Faith pure and undefiled, to honor Our Lady as Co-Redemptrix, to emphasize the Liturgy, increase devotion to the Holy Eucharist, increase study of the Bible, restore Gregorian chant, revise the Code of Canon Law, reform the Breviary and much more.  His sanctity was attested by conversions and miracles during his lifetime and during this canonization process.  He is our strong protector and supporter today against the evil of modernism.

The Reading of “Quo Primum”

The importance of the traditional Latin Mass is seen clearly from the encyclical, “Quo Primum”, by Saint Pius V.  This reading of the document is a powerful reminder of this.

Quo Primum

6th Sunday after Pentecost 2021
Patriotism is part of the virtue of piety and recalled today.  This Sunday has humility as a theme and it is easy to remember because without God’s help we are sinners and that thought should keep us humble.  Mortal sin is the worst thing in the world and venial sin is the second worst.  We must be models to others because of the gifts given to us.  Scandal results instead if we cause others to sin.  The Gospel was the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and a pre-figuring of the Holy Eucharist and the Mass.  The importance of the traditional Latin Mass is seen clearly from the encyclical, “Quo Primum”, by Saint Pius V.  This reading of the document is a powerful reminder of this.

This Is God’s Blood

Precious Blood 2021
This feast was instituted by Pope Pius IX even before the liberation of Rome from the Freemasons in thanksgiving for the Church’s deliverance from these forces of evil.  The Blood of Christ was pre-figured in the Old Testament starting with Saint Abel.  The power of the Precious Blood is infinite and the least drop would save countless worlds so the greatness of God’s love is shown by His shedding every drop for our salvation.  We receive His Blood whenever we receive Holy Communion and are meant to be overwhelmed by His love.  St. Hildegard, a twelfth century mystic, saw how the Mass was celebrated with angels in attendance and how the chalice holding the Precious Blood was specially honored.

Revel In Divine Love

Feast Of The Sacred Heart of Jesus 2021
The beautiful Epistle for this Mass gives an insight into the love of God found in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The supernatural knowledge coming to us through this Heart changes our lives and makes us feel the ardor of divine charity.  Our Lord revealed many of His secrets to St. Margaret Mary and his messages through her are meant to assure us of His tender loving care in the face of the coldness of the world around us.  He told her that this revelation was the very last gift of His to a fallen world.  Despite the wounds received, even from consecrated souls, Christ promises that His love will triumph.

Eucharistic Heart

First Friday Conference June 2021
This First Friday coming between the feasts of Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart points out the unity between these truths of the Faith.  We learn from Our Lord how much humility is a foundational virtue for Him and in our own spiritual life.  The complementary virtues are magnanimity and magnificence.  In the Holy Eucharist Christ lives in a state of humility and the Mass is the means of bringing this to us.  The eucharistic miracle of Lanciano shows this humility of the Sacred Heart.  The creation and conservation of all that is comes through Jesus and is recalled and honored at Mass, particularly the minor elevation.  Unfortunately, all too many, especially impious Catholics, insult our humble Savior in His loving Sacrament.

Sacrament of Sacraments

Feast Of Corpus Christi 2021
The Holy Eucharist is the greatest of the sacraments because It not only gives us grace but is the Author of grace Himself.  It is the beginning and goal of the Christian life.  Catholics do not appreciate this as much as the enemies of the Church do.  They attack the Holy Eucharist as seen in the case of Martin Luther and those who followed him.  A primary tactic of theirs in destroying the faith of the people was communion in the hand.  A recent survey showed that 70% of Catholics do not believe Our Lord is present in the Holy Eucharist but that It is only bread.  In reality, this sacrament was the source of the conversion of the world and the power behind all missionaries.  The Holy Eucharist accompanies us during life and through Viaticum leads us to eternal life.

Jesus Loves You

4th Sunday after Easter 2021 – First Holy Communion Sunday
This week we have the feasts of St. Monica, whose prayers and tears were necessary to convert her son, and St. Pius V, whose papal initiatives preserved our traditional Latin Mass and saved Christendom at the battle of Lepanto.  Congratulations to our first communicants who will receive at this Mass.  This is a great day for our Savior Who wanted this communion from all eternity. There is no greater love than Our Lord’s because He surrendered His life on the cross so to be able to come in communion today.  Christ asks you to give Him your hearts.  You have the model of a eucharistic saint in the boy who received holy communion from the angels while tending his flock far from church.

Crave The Eucharist

Holy Thursday 2021

St. Paul warns us in the Epistle not to abuse Our Lord by receiving Him sacrilegiously in Holy Communion.  This is especially so because the Holy Eucharist is the greatest gift God has given us and the sign of His love for us.  To betray this love is like the kiss of Judas.  The Mandatum is part of the ceremony and this is Christ’s commandment of love which He taught the apostles by His own example.  In giving us Himself in the Holy Eucharist Our Lord asks us to love Him in return.  We have many heroic ancestors to follow who inspire us when we experience our own difficulties in returning love for love.  Eucharistic miracles are God’s frequent way of proving the truth of the Faith and with all these aids we should not be discouraged.

O Happy Fault

Passion Sunday 2021
Today is also the feast of St. Benedict whose influence has had such an impact on western civilization.  Later this week we have St. John Damascene who defended our use of images of the saints.  The liturgical year is our response to Our Lord’s command at the Last Supper to “Do this in memory of Me”.  Passion Sunday continues this on the road to Calvary by having us veil the statues of the saints as a penance and suffering.  This unites us with the sufferings of Christ and sanctifies our own sufferings which are our means of sanctification.  With this appreciation for our living in this vale of tears we can look upon Adam’s sin as something from which we can and should benefit.
