1st Sunday Of Advent 2022 We should begin the new year with the greatest help at our disposal – Holy Communion. The benefits given to Catholics through the Holy Eucharist are innumerable. The Holy Ghost has awakened us and is calling us to draw closer to God. We must pray to be delivered from temptations and we must be far more vigilant in attending Sunday Mass. If we are not holier now than we were at this time last year, we have a chance to start our conversion now and follow the example of the saints. #20221127S
Feast Of Christ The King 2022 We often forget that Christ, as the Son of God, owns us completely. We belong to Him because He created us. All power on earth comes from above, because it all comes from God. Although, we often remember the meekness of Christ, we should also be filled with holy fear when contemplating His might. We read in the Scriptural account how an entire cohort of men, armed with weapons, drew back, and fell to the ground at the words and look of the Savior and how St. John describes a formidable image of the conquering Christ in his apocalyptic vision. We desire the social kingdom of Christ in which Our Lord is obeyed by all nations and all governments throughout the entire world. #20221030
19th Sunday After Pentecost 2022 We should look to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque as a model for our growth in the spiritual life. Many times she experienced the pull of the world drawing her away from her exalted calling. It was only by responding to God’s grace that she ultimately fulfilled His true designs for her. We are taught about Sanctifying Grace in both the Epistle and Gospel for today’s Mass. We are instructed to “put on the new man” and told of the necessity of the “wedding garment” to share in the happiness of the King. We should be willing to lose our life a hundred times rather than lose the unfathomable gift of grace. #20221016B
8th Sunday After Pentecost 2022 ”Taste and see how sweet the Lord is” These words are from the earliest Communion psalm, which was a favorite among the early Christians. We celebrate the feast of the Holy Maccabees, the only Old Testaments saints celebrated in the liturgy, and their story reminds us of our need for fortitude during suffering, to stand against persecution, and to be true to our principals. Our Rosary and spiritual reading are more powerful against the world than carrying signs of protest. #20220731M
6th Sunday After Pentecost 2022 This Sunday brings our minds back to the two great sacraments of Holy Week: Baptism and the Holy Eucharist. Through the former we are given life in the Mystical Body and by the latter that life is nourished and grows. Those who fall short in attempting to “walk in newness of life” have the example of the reparation of King David along with the conversions of so many saints. Just like those saints, we must use our falls to our advantage, being urged on with greater zeal to fight harder than ever. In doing so, our frailty becomes our strength, and our falls only propel us forward to our goal. #20220717B
Feast Of Corpus Christi 2022 The Mass, renewing our Savior’s death on the cross, replaced all the rites of the Old Law. None are excluded from this sacrifice unless they should decline the invitation. We faithful strive daily for union with Christ in the Holy Eucharist, and we hope to die doing so. This is the food to strengthen us on our journey back to heaven. We are made in God’s image and have been given the ability to choose so that we might use it to choose Him. Our Lord leaves us free and does not compel us in this choice. Let us receive Christ’s Body now as a foretaste of heaven to come. #20220616K
4th Sunday After Easter 2022 “Do not let the sun go down on your anger.” In hearing these words, we must remember that this refers to unjust anger. The irascible passion of anger, when justified, is not only important but even necessary. This is why we are told to, “be angry, and sin not.”
The Spirit of God will magnify the Son by expressing all His goodness, holiness, and truth. This recalls to mind the words of the Blessed Virgin, “My soul magnifies the lord…”. Not only all of creation, but particularly the virtue and humility of God’s creatures expresses the His glory.
The children who receive Holy Communion today remind us all of the happiest day of our own lives, when we received the Holy Eucharist for the first time. Even those who have left the true Faith still admit that this was the happiest event of their lives.
The beautiful clothes of the children reflect the beauty of their souls, now prepared for welcome Christ. We are ready to become Christ’s home. He made us that He might come to us and also bring us to Himself. Every gift received is from Christ, who loves us more than any mother or father could.
People forget these basic truths and live lives of pleasure, pride, and greed. At the end of their lives they are filled with great fear, knowing they must leave everything behind. We must avoid the tricks of the devil and bad friends and remain always faithful to Our Lord in this Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. #20220515
Easter Vigil 2022 The Easter Vigil is the culmination of our Lenten retreat and especially for the catechumens who are baptized and who will receive their first Holy Communions at the Mass which follows. The Liturgy brings light to the darkness of the world of sin and sings the praise of Our Lord’s Paschal candle. Then we are reminded of the miracles around water in preparation for the blessing of the Easter and baptismal waters which lead to the baptism of our catechumens. The Mass of Christ’s triumphant Resurrection will end with our Easter communion and our union with the Risen Savior. The newest members of the Church now begin their lives as part of the faithful. #20220416M
Holy Thursday 2022 Today is a good day to remind everyone about how to receive Holy Communion properly. The Epistle is a warning from St. Paul that is timely because we live in a time of unprecedented sacrileges against Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The Gospel describes the Mandatum when Christ washed the feet of His apostles. This was the first interruption of what was the last Passover meal. The second interruption near the end when when Our Lord gave His most precious gift just before His death – Himself in the Holy Eucharist. This is the supreme sacrament in the Church that everything revolves around. The Mass and priesthood which were instituted this night with the Holy Eucharist are essential to Its continuation to the end of time. All the problems which face us can and will be solved by God in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar. #20220414
Laetare Sunday 2022 The saints this week and especially St. Francis Paola show that grace is more impressive than even miracles. The Epistle for this Mass concludes by letting us know that we have received a liberation by the new dispensation which Christ has brought us. No longer are we slaves to sin but free from that evil and all of its consequences. Soon we will renew the sufferings and death on Good Friday which won this freedom for us and today the Church strengthens us for that and the remaining days of Lent by the Gospel’s account of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. This miracle of Our Lord was the sign of confirmation of His words about the Holy Eucharist. This points to the Mass and the need for us to pray always. #20220327S
