Our Hope in His Blood

Feast of the Precious Blood 2024
The devotion to the Most Precious Blood encompasses every aspect of our Faith, because it is through the merits of Christ’s Blood that all good things come to us.  The sacrifice of the Son of God surpasses all the sacrifices of mankind in every conceivable way.  Just as the Blood of Our Lord flowed from the wound in His side, the devotion to the Precious Blood flows from the devotion to the Sacred Heart.  In honoring the Sacred Heart, we honor Our Lord’s great love and mercy, while devotion to the Precious Blood pays homage to the fruit of that love in the Redemption.  Even our ability to give adequate thanksgiving to our Redeemer comes through the Eucharistic Body and Blood of the altar.  It is only in the infinite merits of the Precious Blood that we have hope for the future.

He Bought The World

Precious Blood 2023
This feast is the liturgical completion of Good Friday, the day when the Precious Blood was poured out for our salvation.  In these days when our holy Faith is in danger and under attack, we recall the great heritage of martyrs who shed their blood in imitation of Christ.  At the true Mass we have no doubt what takes place at the Consecration.  Christ’s death continues to the end of time and we are invited to be part of it.  If not for the Precious Blood no sins would be forgiven.

This Is God’s Blood

Precious Blood 2021
This feast was instituted by Pope Pius IX even before the liberation of Rome from the Freemasons in thanksgiving for the Church’s deliverance from these forces of evil.  The Blood of Christ was pre-figured in the Old Testament starting with Saint Abel.  The power of the Precious Blood is infinite and the least drop would save countless worlds so the greatness of God’s love is shown by His shedding every drop for our salvation.  We receive His Blood whenever we receive Holy Communion and are meant to be overwhelmed by His love.  St. Hildegard, a twelfth century mystic, saw how the Mass was celebrated with angels in attendance and how the chalice holding the Precious Blood was specially honored.

The Triumph Of His Blood

Feast Of The Precious Blood 2020
This feast marks a victory and stands in thanksgiving for it.  Pope Pius IX was exiled from Rome in 1848 by an army of the enemies of the Church.  He promised to honor the Precious Blood of Christ after God would restore him to Rome and that happened on the last days of June in 1849.  So, the pope fulfilled his promise and instituted the feast.  We realize the infinite value of the Blood of God which had been prophesied throughout the Old Testament.  The Holy Ghost taught that without the shedding of Blood there would not be redemption.  Our Lord completed His mission by dying on the Cross and shedding every drop of His Blood.  This Blood continues to save at by every Mass.  We must love and thank God always to live with Him in Heaven eventually.

River of Mercy

Feast Of The Precious Blood 2019
Devotion to the Precious Blood of Our Lord is based on the doctrine of the Incarnation whereby we know that all components of His Sacred Humanity belong to the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity and are thereby worthy of divine adoration and love.  God prepared us for His shedding of this price of our redemption by many examples in the Old Testament, beginning with Abel and being seen more dramatically in the blood of the Passover lambs.  The origins of the modern feast celebrating this come from the days of Pope Pius IX.  He instituted the feast in thanksgiving for the saving of Rome from its enemies in 1849.  The qualities of His Blood are seen in Its Litany.  Our spiritual life will be strengthened by our daily practice of devotion to the Precious Blood.

Sharing Of His Blood

Feast Of The Precious Blood 2017

The feast of the Precious Blood was instituted by the saintly Pope Pius IX in gratitude for the restoration of Rome to the Holy See.  St. Peter called Our Lord’s Blood Precious in his epistle and It is so because of the hypostatic union which joins Christ’s humanity to His divinity.  The Sacrifice of the Mass as that on Calvary depends on the shedding of this Blood and our communion with It.  Our bodies are thereby sanctified as temples of God and should never be cremated.  The Precious Blood sustained the early church during centuries of persecution so successfully that by the time of Constantine there were 1800 dioceses.  Finally, there is a special message for priests and aspirants to the priesthood on the sanctifying power of the Holy Mass as seen in the life of St. Bernadino Realino whose holiness was attested by miracles from his own blood.

Power Of His Blood

Feast Of The Most Precious Blood 2016

In this sermon Father traces the devotions to this awesome Feast and makes an astounding revelation of the fact that just one drop of the Precious Blood would have been enough of a sacrifice to save the entire world.  He also points out that human life is carried in the blood and by giving up His Blood, Our Lord completes the Ultimate Sacrifice for all mankind.  He reminds us that the Blood of the Lamb spread on the doorposts of the Jews was enough to save them from the Avenging  Angel of the Old Testament and the Blood of Our Lord was first shed at the circumcision and many times in copious amounts during His Passion and Death.  We have very much for which to be thankful.

All Is Fulfilled

Feast of The Precious Blood 2015
When Christ said the words, “It is consummated,” He expressed the fact that His entire life on Earth had led to this one moment in which all was fulfilled.  The culmination of His mission was the Redemption of the human race.  The devil never tempts a soul as much as at the moment when a man is dying.  This is why we constantly pray for final perseverance.  Christ died with full knowledge and full control of His senses.  The feast was instituted by Pope Pius IX in response to the attacks of Freemasonry.  This is a feast for our times, because we fight the same enemy today.

The Blood of His Heart

Sermon From The Feast Of The
Precious Blood 2014
We can see from the history of this feast day why is it so important for our times when the Church is under such great attacks.  The first gift of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is His Precious Blood.  The first reason for the creation of the human heart was for love of God.  His Blood is called precious because it is the key to our redemption and our enemies defeat.  It is the Blood of God.  Every last drop of Christ’s Blood was shed for us to clearly exemplify is love for mankind.

The Sign Of His Love

Sermon From
The Feast Of The Precious Blood 2013
The shedding of Our Lord’s Precious Blood is a sublime and essential truth of our Faith.  Many clergy and laity have easily fallen away because they did not appreciate this and other truths of God.  We fall by degrees and not mortally immediately.  We must maintain our fervor and love in this life because it is more important on earth than knowing much.  We can only love that for which we have suffered.  The history of this feast shows its importance in modern times to overcome the particular dangers that attack Christ and His Mystical Body.  The Blood of the Savior redeemed us and is the everlasting token of how much He loves us.  We are granted to receive this life giving refreshment whenever we receive Holy Communion.
