9th Sunday After Pentecost 2021
This week we celebrate the feasts of Saints James the Greater, Martha, Ignatius of Loyola and the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Anne. This Sunday is providentially placed in the summer to help us combat temptation and sin. The Epistle warns us how easily we can fall from grace as can be seen by what happened to the Chosen People in the desert. History provides many more examples such as King Henry VIII. God permits evil as a punishment for sin and to teach us to turn to Him when in need. Even those far from grace can do this and in a moment of desperation say “God, help me”. Pray fervently that you may go to heaven and you will.

The story of King Solomon is read in the Divine Office during these days and it is a reminder to us of how far we can fall if we are unfaithful. The road to hell is paved with good intentions which were never brought to fruition. Here are the six steps that the will takes in accomplishing any action: wish, intention, consent, election, use and joy over the good achieved. The saints are diligent in following all the steps to gain the supernatural gifts of grace which brings them to heaven. Their good intentions produce good fruit.

Built On A Rock

Feast Of Saints Peter & Paul 2021
This feast honors Saints Peter and Paul who were martyred in Rome on this day. Today concentrates on St. Peter and tomorrow is dedicated to St. Paul. The Introit and Epistle show us the deliverance of St. Peter from Herod at the last moment and the Gospel etc. point to St. Peter’s special mission from Our Lord as the rock upon which He will build His Church. Christ gave Simon Bar-Jona training that tempered his natural impetuosity and made him into the humble and wise visible head of His Mystical Body. We can rest assured that St. Peter continues to safeguard the Church and its members today and will see that we are safe from harm and the machinations of the evil one. St. Peter will also teach us in our personal lives how to overcome our own vices to become true followers of Our Lord.

4th Sunday After Pentecost 2021
The season after Pentecost is the time for making saints because by grace the kingdom of God is within you through the indwelling of the Holy Trinity. The liturgy is best expressed in the Holy Mass and then through the Divine Office. The Holy Rosary is next in importance as the means provided for us to increase in charity. We learn from the bible readings assigned to these weeks the history of salvation. This Sunday reminds us of David and Goliath and St. Augustine interprets that for us. The Gospel points out the mission given by Christ to St. Peter and his successors. The saints for this week show these truths in action especially St. John the Baptist and the Roman martyrs Sts. John and Paul. Finally, it is good to note that Fathers’ Day comes during the month of the Sacred Heart.

Ticket To Heaven

Ascension Thursday 2021

The dogma of the Faith that teaches that Our Lord ascended into heaven today was revealed to the apostles by the two angels as described in St. Luke’s Acts of the Apostles. On their return to Jerusalem they remained there as instructed to await the coming of the Holy Ghost. They gathered around the Blessed Mother in prayer and we imitate this first novena with our own starting this Friday. The Ascension is the third critical element to our spiritual life. Our Lord’s Death, Resurrection and Ascension are all essential in the plan of redemption. We must die with Christ so we can rise to life and go to heaven. The Ascension strengthens our faith and hope because our head is in heaven and we as members of His Mystical Body will be there one day.

Fifth Sunday After Easter 2021

This Thursday is the Ascension and then we begin the novena to the Holy Ghost. We also have several important saints this week. St. James has been a prominent apostle during Paschal time through his epistle and today he teaches that our love of God and neighbor is shown by the practice of good works. The Gospel is another instruction to the apostles in preparation for Our Lord’s departure and His sending of the Holy Ghost. Today is also Mother’s Day and a time for us to honor our own mothers and especially our heavenly mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Conference On First Friday, May 2021 – Feast Of St. Stanislaus
St. Stanislaus is the patron saint of Poland and an example of a bishop who gives his life to protect his flock. The month of May is dedicated to Our Lady’s queenship and ends with Her feast day. Pope Pius XII instituted the feast with an encyclical that sounds prophetic in its words: “especially in troubled times the world has turned to the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen”. This is for several reasons beginning with Her divine maternity which started at the Annunciation. By Her “fiat” God became man and thereby showed that all graces would come from Him but through Her. The Blessed Mother is Queen by being the highest of any creature in charity and all the other virtues. She also has the title by earning it with Our Lord at Calvary as His cooperator in redemption. We must proclaim Her sovereignty and draw close to Her.

4th Sunday after Easter 2021 – First Holy Communion Sunday
This week we have the feasts of St. Monica, whose prayers and tears were necessary to convert her son, and St. Pius V, whose papal initiatives preserved our traditional Latin Mass and saved Christendom at the battle of Lepanto. Congratulations to our first communicants who will receive at this Mass. This is a great day for our Savior Who wanted this communion from all eternity. There is no greater love than Our Lord’s because He surrendered His life on the cross so to be able to come in communion today. Christ asks you to give Him your hearts. You have the model of a eucharistic saint in the boy who received holy communion from the angels while tending his flock far from church.

Good Example

Third Sunday after Easter 2021
Today is also the feast of St. Mark the Evangelist and the day for the Greater Litanies, which are more ancient than St. Mark’s day. St. Peter in the Epistle is asking the faithful to practice the Faith and thereby be models for non-Catholics and poor Catholics. He reminds us of practicing the virtue of obedience before God and our neighbors. Our good example and brief words, not preaching, convert others. The story of a priest simply asking a girl “not to hurt God” is a wonderful case in point.
