A Theme Of Perfection

15th Sunday after Pentecost 2017

Our Lord’s first public raising from the dead is the Gospel for today.  Moved at the sight of the widow of Naim, Christ miraculously brought her only child back to life with the words, “Young man, I say to thee arise”.  After explaining this story we begin a tour of the chapel which was inspired by the recent “open house”.  The chapel was designed to teach and to lead anyone who enters here to the heights of perfection in the spiritual life.  More beautiful lessons will be presented in future installments.

Where Is Your Faith?

14th Sunday after Pentecost 2017

Seek first God’s holiness and that begins with the virtue of Faith.  We need that to achieve everything worthwhile in our daily activity.  We should strive to learn more and more about God.  The acts of the virtues produce the fruits of the Holy Ghost which give us a certain sweetness in living the spiritual life and thereby encourage us to draw closer to the Blessed Trinity.

The Safeguard of Loyalty

16th Sunday after Pentecost 2012

During an early persecution of the Church, St. Januarius was so loyal to his friends that, at the risk of his own life, he went to visit them while they were imprisoned.  This heroic choice led to his arrest and martyrdom.  The importance of the virtue of loyalty should be inculcated by parents into their children.

We have received great instruction during the thirty days of Our Lady.  The reason why the devotion of the five first Saturdays of the month exists is because Our Lord desires that we make up for the five great attacks against His Holy Mother, particularly the attacks against her perpetual virginity.  Thirty days are not enough to make up for all the Blessed Virgin has suffered for each of us.  We must remain confident that God will have mercy on us if we persevere in prayer.
