Pledge Your Loyalty

Holy Thursday 2019

St. Paul reminds us in the Epistle not to receive the Body of Christ unworthily.  It is a betrayal and a lie to use a sign of love as one of hatred the way Judas did with his kiss.  The Church interrupts her time of penance and sorrow to express her joy over the gifts of the Holy Eucharist, the Mass and sacred priesthood.  Christ thought these important enough to shed His Blood to give them to us.  We must love these precious treasures as much as possible and renew our love and dedication to them.

Sacrament Of Life

Laetare Sunday 2019
After learning about the wonderful saints of this week, Francis of Paola, Isidore of Seville and Vincent Ferrer, the Epistle of St. Paul about the son of the slave girl and the heir of the free woman is explained.  Then the Gospel, which is the beginning of St. John’s famous sixth chapter about the Bread of Life, describes the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes by Our Lord and how His apostles shared in this miraculous power.  All this prefigures the Holy Eucharist and the power of transubstantiation which Christ would give to His priests.  Coming in the middle of Lent, this Sunday encourages us to persevere in our penances and to draw strength to do so from Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

I Have Overcome The World

Fifth Sunday after Easter 2018 – First Communion Sunday
The Church on this last Sunday after Easter recalls the great joy of the Resurrection.  The Epistle from St. James exhorts us to put the Faith into action and not be idle hearers of the word.  In the Gospel Our Lord instructs His apostles to pray to the Father in His Name.  The First Communicants for today were given their final preparations before receiving Our Lord.  They also learned about the Scapular and Miraculous Medal which they will receive after Mass.

Remember The Bells Of Joy

Holy Thursday 2018
The bells of thanksgiving and joy are rung during the Gloria of this Mass which celebrates the birthday of the priesthood, the Mass, the Holy Eucharist and the Sacred Liturgy.  These gifts of love from the Sacred Heart of Jesus must be appreciated as the heavenly treasure and the pearl of great price.  We renew our oath of allegiance to promote, to defend and never to compromise what Our Lord gave us this night before He died.

Be Prepared To Enter Heaven

Laetare Sunday 2018
At the midpoint of Lent we recall the greatest gift God has given after the Redemptive Incarnation – the Holy Eucharist.  The Gospel tells how Our Lord prepared the people for this Sacrament by the miracle of the loaves and fishes.  By reception of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ we are given the foretaste of heaven and so every Holy Communion is a preparation for our entrance there.

Blessed Be The Holy Eucharist

Corpus Christi 2017

The feast of Corpus Christi celebrates the sacramental aspect of the Holy Eucharist while Holy Thursday concentrates on the sacrificial. The Church and priests exist for this central teaching of the faith which is known as transubstantiation.  St. Bonaventure warned centuries ago that without this civilization would return to its base origins and people would degenerate to behavior like beasts.  However, receiving Our Lord in this sacrament gives us the foretaste of heaven which is so necessary to go there eventually.

Love

Holy Thursday 2017

Holy Thursday can be summed up in one word: Love.  This Divine-Human love in the Sacred Heart gave us the Holy Eucharist, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Holy Priesthood today.  True Catholics love all these sacred things in return and follow Our Lord’s command to love one another.  Finally, we appreciate the cost of this love to Our Savior and what we do in reparation.
