The Power of Desire

Last Sunday after Pentecost 2023
In this Epistle we are encouraged when St. Paul tells us that he never stops praying for us.  Yet we can still be lost if we do not desire to follow God’s will for us.  The greatest proof of union with God’s will is joy in adversity.  How much we should thank God and how seldom we do.  This day reminds us that soon the world will end, and we must prepare for our judgment.  In Heaven we will think the thoughts of God and love Him with His own love.  If our desire for love is great, we will obtain the fruit of that desire and the happiness of Heaven.

Ask and You Shall Receive

25th Sunday after Pentecost 2023
The Introit and other prayers of this Mass are repeated every Sunday in the weeks approaching the conclusion of the liturgical year.  The Church’s prayer gives us hope for our impending judgment.  The Collect reminds us that we must not simply rely on words, but we must also act.  A missionary is limited in how many people he can reach, but a contemplative’s reach is limitless because in his prayer he is close to God.  Our enemies seek to change the truth and our children must be aware of these lies and hold fast to their principles.

The Perfection Of Love

24th Sunday after Pentecost 2023
We should make a study of the saints for this coming week, each one of which gives an invaluable example to motivate our spiritual lives.  Today is about charity.  Nothing matters if we lack this great virtue.  We must love our neighbors because God loves them.  This was the example of the early Christians.  Everything is for God’s greater glory, even our very salvation.  We endure the evil of the world now, but when our love is perfected the evils of the world will influence us no longer.

True Affection For The Dead

All Souls Day Evening 2023
Our bodies at the time of death are separated from our souls and undergo corruption.  All the souls of the departed will hear the voice of the Son of God at the Last Judgment.  It is an ancient practice, and one that is natural to man, to pray for the dead.  We must be punished for our sins.  Even if our guilt is removed in the sacrament of Penance, we must still make up for our sins.  Purgatory is a place of mercy, and we have the ability to aid the souls detained there.  Our Faith is based on worshiping God and the salvation of our souls.

Pray For Their Rest

All Souls Day 2023
The Mass of the dead is really the Mass of life.  Virtually nobody prays for the dead, which is a great injustice.  Although Purgatory is not formally denied, it is simply never mentioned.  We must pray for the priests and religious who held fast to the true traditions of our Faith, and all the faithful who were buried from our Chapel.  When we die, we are incapable of making any more choices, and are unable to merit or demerit.  Nothing sullied can be in the presence of God, and the justice of God demands that we make up for our sins.  Few people in this life make satisfaction for their temporal punishment so God in his mercy offers them Purgatory.  It is a place of great joy and great longing.  God has ennobled our prayers so that what we pray can affect our neighbor.  God will grant mercy to the Holy Souls on the condition that we ask.

The Sword Of Salvation

21st Sunday after Pentecost 2023
The martyrology, used in the Divine Office, is a great treasure of the Church.  We belong to the Catholic Church, which alone possesses the mark of holiness.  Not only was the Founder holy, being God Himself, but its truths and sacraments are holy and lead men to sanctity.  We are not fighting against flesh and blood but against spiritual enemies.  The sacraments are the greatest help against temptations.  We must pray, remain occupied, and when we are tempted, we must respond promptly.  The ingratitude we see in the Gospel is rampant in our own age.

Concerning The Pope

Q&A Conference September 2023
The question of the validity of the current pontificate has come to the fore more than ever because of its great importance for Catholics.  The danger of schism and the principle that no Catholic is capable of officially judging the pope are the reasons why one must be very careful and ensure he is taking the safest path on this matter.  Although a person may possess the intellectual competency to have a personal belief about the validity of the current pontificate, one must have the authoritative competency to make a definitive statement on behalf of the Church.

The Wood Made Holy

Exaltation of the Holy Cross 2023
It was through the tree that sin entered the world, and it is through the tree of the Cross that all things are purified.  The brazen serpent of Moses was a prefiguring of the Cross.  The sign of death becomes the sign of salvation.  We must learn our lessons from the liturgy.  The Introit tells us to glory in this Cross.  We are different from the others who believe the Cross is foolishness.  We only learn the mystery of the Cross through humility.  Just as the name of Jesus is exalted through His humility, our names too will be written in the book of life.

Do Not Weep

15th Sunday after Pentecost 2023
No other religion has produced saints as the Catholic Church has.  The greatest mark of the Church is her holiness.  Discretion is one of the best ways to practice charity.  It allows us to know when to offer correction and when to simply let our example teach our neighbor.  Charity is the hallmark of a Catholic.  As much as we unwittingly crucify each other we are still bonded together by charity, and nothing stands in the way of charity for a true Catholic.  Our Lord feels the burdens of His people.

She Is The Joy of Heaven

Feast of the Assumption 2023
In Heaven, the Blessed Mother is second only to the Holy Trinity in honor.  She is called Co-redemptrix because everything that Our Lord won she won as well in a subordinate manner.  It was a miracle that she was sustained in life while her Divine Son died.  She was kept on Earth for the sake of helping the early Church.  Because the Virgin Mary shared so closely in Our Lord’s death, she shares in His triumph.  She offers the gifts of God as she pleases to her children here below.
