One Redeemer, One Priesthood

Low Sunday 2023
50th Priestly Anniversary of Fr. Ward
We are here first to love and honor God, because this day is dedicated to thanking Him.  We thank God for sending us a holy priest, for the Church, and for her truth.  What better day to speak about the priesthood than the day on which we were given the sacrament of Penance.  The words of Our Lord, “you shall be holy because I am holy,” were said to everyone, but first of all to His priests.  It was Christ who said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God.”  Priests are privileged to share in the royal lineage as Christ Himself.

The True Passover

Easter Vigil 2023
Everything is dark at the beginning of this ceremony, just as it was before the creation of the cosmos.  The darkness is representative of the Old Testament, while the Lumen Christi, or Light of Christ, is the New Testament.  The completion of the Passover takes place this evening.  Evidence has been found in recent years of the passage through the Red Sea, but tonight, in a real way, we celebrate the true Passover, which is renewed through the liturgy.  All of creation is made clear to us this night.  Our faith is made perfect in the Resurrection.

The First Day of Our Redemption

Octave Of Christmas 2023
Based on the infallible consensus of the Church Fathers, and the unaltered testimony of Tradition, Catholics believe in the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin.  Just as Christ passed through the stone of His tomb after His resurrection, He passed through the womb of His Mother on the day of the Nativity, leaving it unopened.  On this octave day after His birth, Our Lord shed His first drops of blood for our redemption.  Every suffering of God in His human nature had infinite merit, and His humility in those moments is beyond all understanding.  Let us promise once and for all to be good this year.

Guarantee of Heaven

Feast Of Corpus Christi 2022
The Mass, renewing our Savior’s death on the cross, replaced all the rites of the Old Law.  None are excluded from this sacrifice unless they should decline the invitation.  We faithful strive daily for union with Christ in the Holy Eucharist, and we hope to die doing so.  This is the food to strengthen us on our journey back to heaven.  We are made in God’s image and have been given the ability to choose so that we might use it to choose Him.  Our Lord leaves us free and does not compel us in this choice.  Let us receive Christ’s Body now as a foretaste of heaven to come.

We Become Christ’s Home

4th Sunday After Easter 2022
“Do not let the sun go down on your anger.” In hearing these words, we must remember that this refers to unjust anger. The irascible passion of anger, when justified, is not only important but even necessary. This is why we are told to, “be angry, and sin not.”
The Spirit of God will magnify the Son by expressing all His goodness, holiness, and truth. This recalls to mind the words of the Blessed Virgin, “My soul magnifies the lord…”. Not only all of creation, but particularly the virtue and humility of God’s creatures expresses the His glory.
The children who receive Holy Communion today remind us all of the happiest day of our own lives, when we received the Holy Eucharist for the first time. Even those who have left the true Faith still admit that this was the happiest event of their lives.
The beautiful clothes of the children reflect the beauty of their souls, now prepared for welcome Christ. We are ready to become Christ’s home. He made us that He might come to us and also bring us to Himself. Every gift received is from Christ, who loves us more than any mother or father could.
People forget these basic truths and live lives of pleasure, pride, and greed. At the end of their lives they are filled with great fear, knowing they must leave everything behind. We must avoid the tricks of the devil and bad friends and remain always faithful to Our Lord in this Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

Die To Self

Good Friday 2022
There is one thing that we know and can be certain about and that is that God became a Man and died on this day.  From all eternity this was in the Divine Mind and the ultimate purpose for all creation.  The Sacred Liturgy, in the absence of the Holy Mass today, re-presents the events on Calvary for us to share.  We are imitating the early Christians by using the same liturgical rites as they did.  When Our Lord died on the cross He made a special effort to direct and to entrust us to His own Mother.  We honor and love her as the Co-Redemptrix and Mother of Sorrows because her Divine Son instructed us to do this.  We must appreciate what our sins have done to Son and Mother and detest them by an immolation of our selfishness with Christ on the cross.

The Only Solution

Holy Thursday 2022
Today is a good day to remind everyone about how to receive Holy Communion properly. The Epistle is a warning from St. Paul that is timely  because we live in a time of unprecedented sacrileges against Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.  The Gospel describes the Mandatum when Christ washed the feet of His apostles.  This was the first interruption of what was the last Passover meal.  The second interruption near the end when when Our Lord gave His most precious gift just before His death – Himself in the Holy Eucharist.  This is the supreme sacrament in the Church that everything revolves around.  The Mass and priesthood which were instituted this night with the Holy Eucharist are essential to Its continuation to the end of time.  All the problems which face us can and will be solved by God in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar.

Sign Of Contradiction

Exaltation of the Holy Cross 2021
Crucifixion was an ancient form of torture and execution which was designed to horrify the people and deter anyone from imitating the criminal’s behavior.  All this changed when Our Lord saved us by dying on His Cross.  Now this means of death became our means of life while also showing how much God loves us and how evil sin must be.  This was prefigured by the brazen serpent in the desert which saved the chosen people from poisonous snake bites during their Exodus from Egypt.   Now the Cross is a symbol of victory for us and instead of deterring us from imitating Its Victim It encourages us to follow in His footsteps out of love and devotion.

Quo Primum

6th Sunday after Pentecost 2021
Patriotism is part of the virtue of piety and recalled today.  This Sunday has humility as a theme and it is easy to remember because without God’s help we are sinners and that thought should keep us humble.  Mortal sin is the worst thing in the world and venial sin is the second worst.  We must be models to others because of the gifts given to us.  Scandal results instead if we cause others to sin.  The Gospel was the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and a pre-figuring of the Holy Eucharist and the Mass.  The importance of the traditional Latin Mass is seen clearly from the encyclical, “Quo Primum”, by Saint Pius V.  This reading of the document is a powerful reminder of this.

This Is God’s Blood

Precious Blood 2021
This feast was instituted by Pope Pius IX even before the liberation of Rome from the Freemasons in thanksgiving for the Church’s deliverance from these forces of evil.  The Blood of Christ was pre-figured in the Old Testament starting with Saint Abel.  The power of the Precious Blood is infinite and the least drop would save countless worlds so the greatness of God’s love is shown by His shedding every drop for our salvation.  We receive His Blood whenever we receive Holy Communion and are meant to be overwhelmed by His love.  St. Hildegard, a twelfth century mystic, saw how the Mass was celebrated with angels in attendance and how the chalice holding the Precious Blood was specially honored.
