Our Intercessor

2nd Sunday After Epiphany 2022
The Wedding Feast at Cana is the Gospel for today and the third theophany that marks the feast of the Epiphany.  January 6th celebrates the coming of the Magi but it remembers the Baptism of Our Lord and His first miracle at Cana.  The Blessed Mother played a pivotal role in sensitively alerting her Son to the need of the bride and groom.  Her intercession prompted the providential anticipation of Christ’s hour to begin His mission with the miracle of changing water into wine.  This brought the disciples to believe in Him.  During these days of sickness that all are experiencing it is good to remember not to waste our sufferings but offer them up.

Sharing Your Lives Together

Wedding of Tyler & Patricia Smith
This is a happy day for the bride and groom and all who know and love you.  The marriage bond was given by God to Adam and Eve and then it was raised to a sacrament by Christ when He walked among us.  The purposes of this sacrament are the procreation and education of children, mutual support and a remedy to concupiscence.  The primary purpose is raising children, not just to live in this world but, for heaven.  This holy institution demands responsible adults whose love for each other gives them the ability to share sufferings together and to be humble in bearing one another’s weaknesses.  Through this you will both have a happy life together and win a reward in heaven.

One Word Can Make A Saint

2nd Sunday after Epiphany 2020
The Liturgy is moving toward the redemptive aspect of the Incarnation.  We go with the true and certain knowledge of Christ’s divinity that is manifested to us during these days.  We pray and thereby know our Faith through the liturgical law that the law of prayer is the law of believing.  This Mass is full of such treasures that we must ask God to give them to us as He did give them to the shepherds and magi.  His first miracle at the wedding feast of Cana was a prelude to His final miracle at the Last Supper when He changed wine into His Precious Blood.

Sacramental Contract

Leoffler-Hermes Wedding
Matrimony is the sacrament which raises the natural bond of marriage to a supernatural level and sanctifies the married couple throughout life and leads them to heaven.  In addition, the blessed rings are sacramentals which are bestowed during the ceremony so the couple can avail themselves of the actual graces needed for their life together.  A spiritual life based on prayer will enable the groom to have the self-sacrificing love of Christ crucified while the bride will become a faithful spouse as the Church is.

Grace Of Love

Wedding on May 3, 2019
The marital bond formed today will be a beacon to the world of sacramental love and the grace given.  The married couple shares in the priestly life in a way today and is a beautiful reflection of the Blessed Trinity.  The grace received sanctifies today and continues to do so in the future.  The couple will remember this day and the heaven it foretells for them in union with God.

Deliver Us from Pride

16th Sunday after Pentecost 2015
When we see the moral attacks on society, and especially on the sacrament of Matrimony, it should be a wake-up call for all of us. We should strive to pray better and attend Mass more frequently when we witness how dire is our situation.

This Mass is given to us to counteract pride. Our Lord is drawn to the humble and repulsed by the proud, just as all of us are. God must give us grace to move us to perform a good action, He must give us grace to sustain us in doing what is right, and a grace to bring the good work to completion. This is how utterly dependent we are on His continuous help.

Instruction to the Married Couple

Nuptial Mass – April 2015
The wedding day is particularly important for the wife, because this union provides the security and protection for her and her future children.  She, representing the whole Mystical Body, surrenders herself to the husband who is supposed to be the living representative of Our Lord through the love he provides.  A marriage only works when both parties will it to work.  All the sacraments are forms of worship as they are united to Christ’s redemptive sacrifice.  Matrimony is a participation of the fruitful love of Christ from the Cross.  The married couple are called to be the extension of God’s love, as they produce saints to propagate the kingdom of Heaven.
