9th Sunday After Pentecost 2018 This Sunday teaches us to be humble and thankful for God’s gifts lest we lose them for our lack of appreciation.  The Gospel relates the event as Christ was to begin His triumphal entry of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. He paused on the Mount of Olives and wept over the Holy City and what would be its punishment for rejecting Him and putting Him to death. This moment uniquely shows Christ’s divinity and humanity. All can repent as St. Mary Magdalen and be saved from the fires of hell. #20180722S
4th Sunday after Pentecost 2018 The humility of St. Peter in the Gospel is a virtue we all must practice as a promise of heaven. We should be as attentive as possible at Mass so we can pray well. We witness the death of Our Lord again during the Holy Sacrifice and we hear His last words “into Thy hands I commend My spirit”.
Palm Sunday 2018 Palm Sunday is an encapsulation of all of Holy Week as the triumph of the Resurrection is seen with the entry of Our Lord into the Holy City and the sacrifice of the Cross in the Passion. We must not waste this week nor be distracted. We can win souls to Christ by imitating the virtues Jesus showed on this day: humility, meekness and obedience.
Conference On Passion Sunday 2018 In this conference we learn about the upcoming feast of St. Joseph. His greatest titles are Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Foster Father of the Son of God. God the Father entrusted His Divine Son to the care of St. Joseph whose virginal paternity was a perfect image of the Begetting of the Son by the Father. The true marriage of St. Joseph to Our Lady is the foundation of his relationship through her with Jesus Christ. He is protector of the Church and universal patron of all our needs.

Ash Wednesday 2018 In 1741 the pope declared that Lent is the true sign of the Christian fighting for his salvation by means of penance through fasting which is understood by the receiving of the sacramental of ashes today. The entire Septuagesima season focused our attention on sin and our identifying the predominant fault we want to eradicate now. We begin our forty days of prayers, almsgiving and fasting with confidence that God will hear our plea and forgive us as He did with the Ninivites at the preaching of the prophet Jonas.
Sexagesima Sunday 2018 During this sacred time before Lent we should examine our conscience so we know the predominant fault we will battle through penance once Ash Wednesday arrives. St. Paul is our spiritual director for this as we think about original and actual sin. The young especially have an opportunity to respond to grace and be instruments of sanctity in the world today.
At the vigil Mass the joy of Christmas is already felt and this happy way that we receive the Infant King reassures us that His second coming will not be a harsh one for us. On this last day of Advent St. Joseph is brought before us as the worthy descendant of David who will protect the Blessed Mother from scandal, hardship and from the devil. Our receiving this “Bread from Heaven” will ease our burdens in this life.
The brightness of this feast honoring the Immaculate Conception is seen in stark contrast to the darkness of those who should know the truths of the Faith and do not. Our Lady received her initial plenitude of grace today and all the gifts which accompany it. Her humility is prominent among them and was singular in her becoming the Mother of God. This was to undo the terrible pride which led to the sin of Adam and Eve. Finally, the tremendous value of sanctifying grace is seen by the fact that it cost the Blood of God to obtain it.
