Christmas Is Hope

Christmas 2019
As we gather at the crib of Bethlehem we renew our belief in the fundamental truths of the Incarnation (God made Man) and the miraculous virgin birth (the Blessed Mother’s perpetual virginity).  After thousands of years of suffering in consequence of Adam’s sin this night marks the beginning of our redemption and the elevation again to the supernatural life.  All of this is the cause of the joy experienced by the faithful and which even effects our pagan, secular world. God with us gives us hope for a better future and the promise of living with Him in heaven one day.

Eternal Rest

All Souls Day 2019
Mother Mary Austin wrote movingly about the Holy Souls in Purgatory and her congregation was dedicated to helping them.  These saved individuals are holy but not perfect yet and fling themselves into Purgatory to be purified before entering God’s presence.  We have the responsibility to pray and to sacrifice for the relief and release of the Holy Souls and especially now when they are ignored and neglected.  Our model in this is the Blessed Mother whom Our Lord entrusted with care of His Church Suffering.

Love Is Life Or Death

This week is the feast of All Saints which honors God in His heroic examples of sanctifying power.  Today is the feast of Christ the King which was instituted by Pope Pius XI in 1925 to combat secularism and to re-assert God’s rights in modern society which have been denied.  Christ is King in His divinity and in His humanity through the grace of union, headship, priesthood and conquest on the Cross.  He established His Church with rights to teach, rule and sanctify.  We pray daily in the Lord’s Prayer “Thy Kingdom Come”.

She Reaches Out to Us

Feast Of The Assumption 2019
This is Our Lady’s greatest feast which marks the triumphant conclusion of her life when God took her body and soul into heaven where she reigns today.  This is an ancient feast which requires us to thank God for the Assumption.  We read this in the definition of the dogma by Pope Pius XII on All Saints day 1950.  Our Lady’s thirty days begin today and are special for an increase of piety among the faithful.  Our heavenly Mother stretches her maternal arms out to us to save us from perdition.  We should pray the Memorare or Hail Holy Queen to be brought back.

Enkindle The Fire For Heaven

Lynn Burdi Funeral Mass
We miss and will always pray for the deceased who had a love for the traditional Latin Mass and for the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Her rose garden in front of the chapel is the constant reminder of that.  We here who mourn our loss must pray and sacrifice for her to be released from Purgatory if she is there being purified in preparation for her entrance into heaven. The merciful fire that accomplishes this is ignited by our love through the Holy Mass so we must pray fervently for her now and in the future.

Pray The Catholic Way

5th Sunday After Easter 2019
As we approach the end of Easter season and the extinguishing of the Paschal candle we should remember the importance of lighting votive candles.  We should heed the practical advice of St. James in his epistle today when he tells us to put our faith into action.  We must not become like worldlings who treat God with indifference and we should pray always and today, Memorial day, for those defenders of our country.

Christ’s Love Is Causative

Conference On The 4th Sunday After Easter 2019
In this talk after Mass we learn about the qualities of glorified bodies.  Our Lord exhibited these after rising from the dead and they are: subtlety, agility, clarity, impassibility and immortality.  We will also possess them one day in heaven with Christ if we imitate His life and death.  When Jesus shows us His Cross in the end and says that this is how much He loved us then we will answer that we loved Him enough to carry our own crosses as well with His help.

History Of The Resurrection

Easter Sunday 2019
The details given in the Gospels about Our Lord’s rising from the dead provide the compelling evidence for our faith in the Resurrection.  Christ first came to visit His own Mother and spent time with her until His appearances around the sepulchre.  Later in the afternoon He walked with the two disciples to Emmaus and ended the day by seeing the apostles in the upper room.  We must rejoice with them over our King’s Victory.  There are some in the world who think they can conquer Our Savior.  These have been deceived by the devil.

Victory Was Won Today

Good Friday 2019
The Church is in sorrow and desolation on God’s Friday because it is the day He died for our sins.  This should move us to deep repentance for what our sins have done and thanksgiving to Our Lord for His great love in redeeming us this way.  The Solemn Liturgical Action for today includes the opening prostration and prayer; the prophecies and Passion, solemn collects, veneration of the Cross and finally Holy Communion.  All lead us to victory with Christ.

Ordinary Means of Holiness

3rd Sunday after Epiphany 2019
The Introit and some of the Mass propers for the Third Sunday after the Epiphany will be repeated on the next two Sundays.  They renew the joy of the Incarnation and show forth the divinity of Our Lord.  These are reminders of the essential quality of the liturgy in sanctifying our lives.   The Gospel in particular manifests Christ’s divine power, first to the Jews in the person of the leper and then to the Gentiles in the person of the centurion’s servant.  St. Paul’s epistle stresses charity as the hallmark of Christians.
