We learn several things on this feastday.  The dogma that Christ returned to heaven on Ascension Thursday was revealed by the angels who told the apostles.  Among Our Lord’s last words were His instructions not to worry about the future because the Father in His Providence will take care of everything and to go forth and preach the Gospel.  Most importantly, today heaven became our home because Our Savior, the Head of the Mystical Body of which we are members, is there preparing a place for us.

Encompassed By The Trinity

The Holy Trinity is a supernatural mystery, meaning that it is beyond our human capacity to understand without supernatural grace and the assistance of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Mary, our Mother, has a special and unique relationship with the members of the Trinity for She is the daughter of the Father, Mother of the Son, and Spouse of the Holy Ghost.  So, if we want to get closer to the Trinity, we should engage the assistance of Mary in this difficult undertaking.  The upcoming feasts of Corpus Christi and the Sacred Heart will give us the perfect opportunity to pray and meditate on this awesome Mystery.

God Will Win

The 5th Sunday After Pentecost 2015
Fraternal charity is a theme of this Mass. Tomorrow is the feast of St. Peter and he is a great person who was trained well by Our Lord. A test of courage is the ability to endure challenges patiently. We should imitate the saints in seeking peace and pursuing it. Our love of God is seen in how much we love neighbor too. Our society is deteriorating and is seen in its acceptance of the four sins that cry out to God for vengeance. A heavy chastisement is awaiting us. The Sacred Heart lamented that even consecrated souls are guilty. By our baptisms all of us have been dedicated to the Blessed Trinity and should fulfill our vows of fidelity. God will triumph in the end with a victory as seen by Gideon.

Our Voyage to Heaven

Today, St. John instructs us on how to live the Christian life, and how this life of grace and love demands good works.  The whole first half of the liturgical year is summed up in the feast of the Holy Trinity.  Now the Father and the Son have sent the Holy Spirit to draw us towards Heaven.  The three Theological Virtues and the four Moral Virtues are like the oars of our ship which we actively use to help us reach our celestial destination; but the seven Gifts of the Holy Ghost, like the sails of our ship, operate more passively when we are open to His inspirations.  Although we have all the benefits, we must be vigilant, because our lives are still fraught with dangers.

God’s Secret

There are two days in the liturgical year on which the establishment of a feast day has been requested by Heaven directly, one of which being the feast of Corpus Christi.  We should know the details of the establishment of this feast, which was meant to combat the future attacks against the Holy Eucharist.

Our Lord commanded that all nations be converted and baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity.  Every Mass begins with the invocation of the Holy Trinity in the Sign of the Cross.  There are numerous symbols in the Church which express the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.  The Kyrie and the Gloria of the Mass proclaim and praise the Triune God

No Fear of the World

2nd Sunday in Lent 2015
There are Catholics who are giving their lives for the Faith in our own day.  What a powerful lesson that should encourage us to stand courageously with Christ in our own lives.  St. Thomas Aquinas is an excellent example for us of humility, obedience, and the need for spiritual reading.  Spiritual reading lays the foundation for mental prayer.  In the Epistle for today, St. Paul warns us about sins of the flesh and the need to preserve our bodies as the dwelling place of the Blessed Trinity.  We should have a holy fear of God and His law, but never fear of the world.

It Is Not Easy

The Epistle tells us that if we are to put our efforts into anything it should be something that really matters.  Not for the perishable rewards given in sports but for the eternal reward of Heaven.  These three Sundays are for an examination of conscience.  We should be asking during these days what we have done in our life that has truly mattered.  It is not easy to be a Catholic, because it means we will have enemies in this life.  The opinions of men do not affect our eternity.  It does not matter how we begin our life, but how we end it.  We must live with distrust of self and knowledge of our dependence on God.

Ask In His Name

Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus 2015
All Catholics bow their heads in reverence when they hear the name of Jesus because it is the name of God.  It is only in the name of Jesus that we will be saved.  When St. Peter says that “God the Father raised His Son from the dead,” he is simply expressing the Trinitarian doctrine.  We must pray that we are given the virtue of supernatural prudence.  We must pray the Rosary daily – that prayer which is responsible for so many miracles.  In the Old Testament the Hebrews could not even utter God’s name, so we must never take the name of God in vain.  His very name is a prayer.

He Rules Our Souls

Because the feast of the Nativity is so important, the Church celebrates throughout its octave, each day of which emphasizes different aspects of the Nativity.  We are given a great example of the staunch defense of the Faith on the feast of St. Stephen.  We are shown Our Lord as an infant, how He is seemingly helpless and most deserving of our love.  It is a privilege and honor to assist at the true Mass.  When we receive the Sanctifying Grace the Trinity is active in our souls.  The Holy Spirit establishes His home within us, and we are called to be His faithful children.
