Easter Sunday Morning 2025 Despite what the nonbelievers may say, Our Lord truly and bodily rose from the dead. Our faith is vain without the Resurrection, because this miracle is the greatest proof that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Although no one can see the Divinity of Christ, this act shows that He has power over life and death. Even in the face of these great wonders, just like the Apostles before us, we must still believe. This great day is dependent on the victory of the Cross. We are united to our Divine Redeemer in Baptism, and we will be united with Him in our own resurrection. In this world we have affliction, but we take courage because He has overcome the world. #20250420
Sermon From The Easter Vigil 2025 From the moment we enter this world, we are on a journey towards our destination in Heaven. We have traveled alongside our Divine Lord and shared in His sufferings during the season of Lent. At the beginning of the ceremony, we are all cast into darkness to witness the lighting of the Paschal Fire – the symbol of Christ Who is the Light of the World. The incense being burned represents the offering of our prayers. We do not appreciate as we should the importance of responding to the actual graces God sends us. After the baptism of this night, we will have a saint among us, and we will renew our vows with the newly baptized. Tonight let us cast out the devil and cling to Our Lord. #20250419K
Holy Thursday 2025 Today we are celebrating the birthday of the Sacrifice of the Mass, the Holy Eucharist, and the priesthood. We have been warned that we must learn from the sacred things we witness during this time, and it is incumbent upon us to call to mind the details of Our Lord’s life during these last days and moments before His death. Christ explained to the Apostles at the Last Supper that the bread, wine, and lamb of the Passover meal are all one in Him. For all priests all Thursdays are a day of retreat in commemoration of this great anniversary of the priesthood. After the moment of the Incarnation all the prayers of the angels now pass through the Son of God made man. First, He gave us Himself in the consecration of the bread, then in the consecration of the wine He gave us the Mass, and lastly, He instructed the Apostles to “do in like manner” and in these words He gave us the priesthood. Today we continue the great feast of love practiced by the early Church and thank God for the birthday of the Eucharistic Christ. #20250417M
3rd Sunday after Epiphany 2025 As Catholics, we should be well informed about the feast days celebrated this week. We should know the details of the account of St. Paul’s conversion and how it changed the course of the Church, as well as the lives of Saints Polycarp, Francis de Sales, John Bosco, and Ignatius of Antioch. In the Epistle for today’s Mass, St. Paul instructs us to avoid the sin of revenge. We must believe that God will reward the good and punish the wicked, either in this life or the next. In this Gospel account, the deforming disease of leprosy is shown as a symbol of sin. We are reminded to have gratitude toward God for both spiritual and corporeal favors. The Roman centurion was a friend to the Jewish people and a monotheist. His beautiful words of faith have echoed through the centuries at countless Masses. We must imitate the virtues of this good centurion if we wish to be cured of our spiritual illness and live a holy life. #20250126K
Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus 2025 Not only this day, but this entire month is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. The first miracle the Apostles worked was the cure recorded in today’s Gospel account. The Second Commandment of the Decalogue is: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. We live in a time that deliberately violates this commandment. God’s name is “I am Who am”, and the Jews were forbidden to say this name except once a year in the Holy of Holies. In the Old Testament, we see David ask for God to have mercy on him because of the love he has for His Holy Name. We have been instructed to do all in the name of Our Lord. Let us fall on our knees with the Magi in adoration of Jesus Christ and in reparation for the blasphemies against Him. #20250105M
Christmas Conference 2024 In a moment in time the Word assumed a human nature and from then on, He was completely God and completely man and will be so for all eternity. This feast of Christmas also includes the doctrine of the Virgin Birth. The Blessed Mother was virgin before, during, and after the birth of Christ. This miracle foreshadowed the Resurrection, in which Christ passed through His tomb while leaving it shut.
The reason why the Son became man was first to honor His Father, and only secondarily for the salvation of mankind. All things were made as an expression of His goodness, and all mankind was made for God first. God became a Father in a new way on Christmas, because it was only then that He became Father in the flesh. Our Lord came to dwell forever in our hearts as the King of Peace. This is a feast of hope which offers a foretaste of the final victory at the end of time. The three Masses of Christmas focus, first on the eternal birth of the Son from the Father, then the birth of the Word in the Flesh, and finally the birth of the Word in men’s hearts. Christ appeared as a helpless child, and all are drawn to the innocence and purity of an infant. It teaches each one of us to become like little children so we might enter the kingdom of Heaven. #20241220
First Friday, December 2024 Conference on Grace and The Immaculate Conception – When we speak of perfect passive conception, we refer to the moment in which the product of active conception is infused with a soul and becomes a human person. From this moment of perfect passive conception, the Virgin Mary was redeemed in a preservative, not a liberative, manner. The Blessed Mother from this point possessed a greater union with God than all the angels and saints. Our Lady was not only free from the guilt of Original Sin, but also the concupiscence of the flesh, of the eyes, and the pride of life. By a divine ligature, she was unable to consent to even the slightest imperfections.
Sanctifying Grace is a created share in the supernatural life of God. When God breathed human life into Adam, He breathed a share of divine life into him as well. Grace must be valued above all things. We must be willing to live and die to preserve it. The Blessed Mother was given the plenitude of grace in preparation for her role as the Mother of God, as well as Mother to each one of us. #20241206
24th Sunday after Pentecost 2024 If Catholics choose to vote, they should be aware of the importance of voting with a well-informed conscience on the moral teachings of the Church. The Epistle for this Mass explains how Christ came to save all mankind, although many rebel and have contempt for Our Lord. The true Church is indefectible and will never be destroyed. All virtues are contained in love of God and neighbor. In this Gospel we see the ship as an image of the Church. God performs great miracles in the lives of each one of us. Let us never grow accustomed to the incredible favors we have been given. #20241103K
Exaltation of the Holy Cross 2024 Emperor Constantine saw a vision of the Holy Cross in the sky which led to his victory. Years later, St. Helena led an expedition to the Holy Land and miraculously found the true Cross of Our Lord. Hundreds of years after that, Emperor Heraclius defeated the Persians and rescued the Cross which had been stolen. This feast was prepared by Our Lord through the many miracles He has performed. The Cross is the sign of victory over our enemies and gives us the knowledge of God’s love for us, which is, in the end, the only knowledge necessary. When God’s love is revealed to us, we must respond by offering all our love in return. The love we are given through the Cross raises us to such heights that we are able to love God with a share in His own sacrificial love. #20240914S
1st Friday Conference September 2024 St. Tarcisius lived during the days of great persecution. He was ordained an acolyte or deacon as a young man, and was commissioned to care for the Christian prisoners. While bringing Viaticum to these captives, St. Tarcisius was accosted by a group of pagans. He gave his life rather than expose the Holy Eucharist to desecration.
Devotion to the Holy Infant of Prague is loved and honored by Our Lord Himself. Our Lord is not a child now, but this is the humble state in which He first appeared in the world. The statue depicts the Holy Infant as both God and Man, as well as King of all creation. His welcoming gentleness seems to radiate out from the Infant Jesus of Prague. He makes Himself a guide to all those who have lost their way.
Much is said about the accomplishments of St. Pius X, but not enough about his interior life. His prayer had reached the heights of contemplation and was directed by the Holy Ghost. He radiated goodness and wanted to comfort everybody, yet fought unwaveringly against the enemies of his spiritual children. #20240906
