The Epiphany And The Holy Family

Feast Of The Holy Family 2021
The crèche is a composite of many events surrounding the Nativity and culminating with the adoration of the Magi which is celebrated on the feast of the Epiphany.  The first Sunday after this feast is that of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  The Gospel tells the story of the finding of Our Lord in the Temple at the age of 12.  The Holy Family is a model of liturgical prayer for our families because of its fidelity and devotion to all the celebrations of the Old Testament like the Passover.  Our religious community has enjoyed the patronage of the Holy Family for 44 years and we are grateful for that and for all the assistance we have received from the faithful.

Does God Not Have Rights Too?

Feast Of Christ the King 2020
Pontius Pilate acted cowardly in today’s Gospel and what happened to him as a result is a good lesson for all of us.  This feast was established by Pope Pius XI who saw the attacks against Our Lord as undermining the fabric of civilization also.  This feast cries out to brave souls to defend Christ’s Kingship and restore society to the excellent footing it once had.

The Triumph Of His Blood

Feast Of The Precious Blood 2020
This feast marks a victory and stands in thanksgiving for it.  Pope Pius IX was exiled from Rome in 1848 by an army of the enemies of the Church.  He promised to honor the Precious Blood of Christ after God would restore him to Rome and that happened on the last days of June in 1849.  So, the pope fulfilled his promise and instituted the feast.  We realize the infinite value of the Blood of God which had been prophesied throughout the Old Testament.  The Holy Ghost taught that without the shedding of Blood there would not be redemption.  Our Lord completed His mission by dying on the Cross and shedding every drop of His Blood.  This Blood continues to save at by every Mass.  We must love and thank God always to live with Him in Heaven eventually.

Our Most Sublime Prayer

3rd Sunday After Pentecost 2020
The Gospel shows Our Lord coming to protect us and this is perfect for Father’s Day as well.  When asked how to pray Christ gave us the Our Father.  When we receive Holy Communion we are united with Our Lord.  We are meant to be saints and must pray and strive for that always.  Not to desire sanctity is a sin.  We should do everything for our Heavenly Father and someday reach eternal happiness.

Pray All Be Saved

Trinity Sunday 2020
The angelic St. Thomas Aquinas has his feast day this week and we are reminded of his being a patron for the finding of lost items.  God is wonderful in His saints.  This feast of the Holy Trinity starts a new season of the liturgical year.  It is right that this be the case because everything comes from the Father, Son and Holy Ghost and all honor, praise and glory return to the Triune God.  This fundamental mystery of Three Divine Persons in One and the Same God is essential for salvation because denial of this prevents one from entering heaven.  God has revealed to us His inner workings where the Unbegotten brings forth the Only Begotten and Their mutual Love is the Person of Love, the Holy Ghost.  This Trinitarian life goes on within the souls of those in the state of grace and is offered to all.  Christ’s final command to the apostles was to go forth and baptize in the name of the Blessed Trinity.  We must pray that all will be saved.

New Law Of Love

Pentecost Sunday 2020
This feast is on par with Easter and is deserving of the greatest eloquence in speaking about it.  The descent of the Holy Ghost on this day was prepared for 1500 years earlier when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the decalogue, fifty days after the Passover when the chosen people escaped from Egypt.  The Person of Love was sent by the Father and the Son to inaugurate the New Law by entering the Cenacle and giving His graces to those present.  The Blessed Mother was a perfect receptacle for her Spouse and through Him Our Lady is the model for us of love and of heaven dwelling within us.  Never blaspheme against the Holy Ghost and instead learn to turn within and commune with the Triune God who lives in the souls of those in the state of grace.

Keep Them From Evil

Sunday After The Ascension 2020
Today is also Memorial day and not a time to discuss just war theory but to honor and to pray for the soldiers who died for us.  This month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and we should be doing something everyday in Her honor.  Thanksgiving to God because of Her intercession for our return to the Mass and Sacraments is a recommended prayer now.  Today is a renewal of the Ascension and a continuation of our preparation with the Apostles for the coming of Pentecost.  This trial for them was the illuminative way in which we are meant to share.  The Mass texts are beautiful and the Postcommunion reminds us of Our Lord’s priestly prayer for unity.  We should pray and be faithful.

Heaven Is Our Real Home

Ascension Thursday 2020
Today Our Lord gloriously entered heaven and made it a home for all humanity through His Sacred Human Nature seated at the right hand of God the Father.  To emphasize this, all the saved who had been detained in the Limbo of the Patriarchs from Adam to St. John the Baptist entered heaven in triumph with Christ.  With His departure the apostles began their novena in preparation for the coming of the Holy Ghost and entered into their own spiritual purification by detaching themselves from all that hindered their progress in the spiritual life.  We must join them during these days of prayer & penance before Pentecost.  Our attention should always be focused on our goal which is our heavenly home.  With society collapsing around us we have heaven as our one remaining hope.

Faith Overcomes The World

Low Sunday 2020
Today is called Low Sunday in comparison to the High Sunday of Easter last week. This Lent was our opportunity to tell God we are sorry for our sins and we resolve to continue having this sorrow throughout our lives.  Faith is the center of our reality and source of our victory.  We are like the apostles in today’s Gospel who receive the consoling words from the Risen Savior, “Peace be to you”.  Repeat the indulgenced words of St. Thomas often, especially at the elevation, “My Lord and My God”.  Live the life of God in our souls now through the Indwelling of the Blessed Trinity.

The Holy Family & Silent Prayer

Feast Of The Holy Family 2020
This feast celebrates the beautiful life that Jesus led in this world with His Holy Family.  The Epistle gives us the foundation of the Holy Family’s life together which is charity – the bond of perfection.  The Gospel teaches about Christ’s consciousness of His divine mission and how others observed His growth in wisdom, grace and age.  The sermon concludes with a meditation on silent prayer and why it is essential at Mass.
