Feast of Hope

Christmas 2018 Midnight
Christmas brings joy to all the people of the world despite any attempts to thwart it.  So along with the sorrows around us nothing prevents God dwelling among us.  We hope in God that He will save us and exercise His Kingship in a society devoted to His Royal and Davidic line.  The Mass texts re-enforce this through their own prayerful considerations.

Our Nature’s Solitary Boast

Immaculate Conception 2018
The Proclamation of the dogma of today’s feast of the Immaculate Conception was done by Pope Pius IX in 1854.  This prerogative is an absolutely supernatural gift to the Blessed Virgin Mary in light of the Passion and Death of her Divine Son and which created Her as a worthy vessel for the carrying of Christ as His Mother later in Her life.  Her initial plenitude of grace was accompanied by the virtues and the gifts in the highest degree possible to equip her for God’s mission.  God’s love produced this in her and the Blessed Mother reciprocated this love throughout her life.

First Sunday of Advent 2018
The First Sunday of Advent begins the Church’s new liturgical year and reminds us that the way we pray is the way we believe.  The liturgy is the official prayer of the Church and the ordinary means of holiness.  It is also a weapon against the devil.  Prayer is an excellent penitential practice for Advent and the Blessed Mother is the perfect model of this practice.  Our Lady will prepare us for Christmas through her Rosary devoutly recited.

Our Lady’s Anamnesis

Rosary Conference November 25, 2018
This conference explains how the Rosary is the living memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary praying at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  We can pray in union with our Blessed Mother and penetrate the mysteries of the Rosary as She did.  This will make our recitation of the Rosary easier and elevate it to the contemplative order which is its purpose.  Thus fortified, souls will be led by the Rosary to victories greater than those accomplished in the past.

All Saints Chapel

All Saints Day 2018

Our chapel could be named for All Saints Day because we have the Beatitudes from the Gospel on the walls along with statues of the saints, especially those who were sinners.  This is a reminder of the origin of this feast in transferring relics to St. Mary of the Martyrs in Rome, the previously pagan temple of the Pantheon.  Today is a great celebration in heaven as all who have lived ordinary lives in extraordinary supernatural ways are honored.  We are called to imitate them and to join them one day.

The Promise Of The Rosary

20th Sunday after Pentecost 2018
After a brief explanation of sacramentals, the importance of catechism and an exposition on the Epistle and Gospel for the Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost we learn about the Holy Rosary.  Our Lady used St. Dominic to propagate this highly indulgenced prayer that has its origins with the monastic brothers.  It has been the means of combatting heresy and anti-Christian armies.  It is our tie to the Liturgy and the means of overcoming all the problems facing us because of modern society.

May God Rebuke Him

St. Michael the Archangel 2018

The feast of the dedication of St. Michael the Archangel includes all the angels or created spirits who are distributed among nine choirs based on their function.  Angel means messenger and these are the ones which communicate God’s Will to us.  St. Michael is their leader because he responded so vigorously to Lucifer’s temptation.  In addition to his warrior role he also is known for miraculous healings that come through his intercession.  He is the defender of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her offspring in the Church and will exercise his patronage in the days ahead.

Humility Reveals Our Faults

17th Sunday after Pentecost 2018
The 17th Sunday after Pentecost is a Mass about humility and how this virtue points to our faults and not to our neighbor’s. This year it follows the feasts of the Holy Cross and Seven Sorrows which remind us of the gifts from God like His Cross and Blessed Mother.  We should seek to appreciate these especially as we have them in the Holy Mass.  Would we not travel around the globe to attend just one Mass?  Then we should love and cherish every Mass we attend.

Be Our Salvation

Feast Of The Seven Sorrows 2018
The feast of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Mother recalls the chief times in her life that she felt the weight of being Co-Redemptrix.  The Mass Sequence emphasizes how much closer Our Lady is to Holy Trinity because her intercessory power enables her to make our prayers be answered rather than simply passing our requests onto God as the rest of the saints do.  Her tears unite with the Sacred Heart and add merit to the Church’s treasury.

About Mary, Enough Is Never Said

Assumption Evening 2018
The feast of the Assumption celebrates the taking of Our Lady into heaven body and soul after her earthly life was completed.  This is in imitation of her Divine Son of Whom she is a perfect image.  The early Christians gathered around her after the Ascension and we do the same and with fervor that should increase always.  Love of our heavenly Mother is a sign of predestination.
