18th Sunday after Pentecost 2023
Today we see a shift in the liturgy as the Church begins to focus on the end of time.  It is teaching us not to avert our eyes from our coming judgement.  The Gospel for today gives a warning against sins of thought, and St. Alphonsus tells us that sins of thought on a person’s death bed are the greatest cause of the loss of grace in those last moments.  God has chosen to save men through the help of other men.  This is why we should seek good spiritual direction and diligently apply the lessens we receive in sermons.
