St. Narcissus, Bishop of Jerusalem
October 29, 2025
When almost 80 years old, about 195, St. Narcissus was placed at the head of the church of Jerusalem. He presided over a council of the bishops of Palestine which decreed that Easter is to be kept always on a Sunday, and not with the Jewish Passover. One famous miracle of this holy bishop was on a Holy Saturday, when the deacons, needing oil for their lamps for the divine office, he changed water into oil with a devote prayer.
