Feast of Christ the King

October 25, 2024

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 25 of October, repeating indefinitely

Pope Pius XI, in instituting the feast of the Kingship of Christ, desired to make solemn proclamation of the social dominion of our Lord Jesus Christ over the world. Christ, the King of souls and consciences, of intellects and wills, is also the King of families and cities, peoples and nations. He is King of the whole universe. Pius XI showed that secularism is the direct denial of this Kingship of Christ; by organizing social life as if God did not exist leads to the apostasy of the masses and the ruin of society.

Saint Isidore, USA

St. Isidore was a manual laborer in Spain during the Middle Ages.  He was a favorite of the farmer who employed him not only for his good work but also for his deep spirituality which brought peace to the entire household.  St. Isidore is a saint for the United States.

Saints Chrysanthus and Daria

St. Chrysanthus came from Alexandria and St. Daria came from Athens to Rome. Chrysanthus, after having been espoused to Daria, persuaded her to prefer a state of perpetual virginity to that of marriage, so that they might with perfect purity of heart trample the world under their feet. The zeal with which they professed the faith of Christ distinguished them in their trial. They were martyred in the persecution of Valerian in 237.
