Chair of St. Peter
February 22, 2029
To honor the dignity of the Prince to whom Jesus committed the power of the keys, the Church instituted the feast of the Chair of St. Peter which is found in the Roman calendar at this date since the year 354. Celebration of St. Peter’s Chair means veneration, in the person of Peter, of God’s providential plan which caused him to be chosen to be the chief of the Apostles and the first Pastor of the Church. All the Popes, Bishops of Rome and successors of St. Peter are, like him, heads of the one true Church established by our Lord Jesus Christ. They continue to transmit to us our Savior’s teaching and to lead us in His name.
