Blessed Sante of Urbino

September 6, 2016

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day 6 of September, repeating indefinitely

Blessed Sante, who sprang from a noble family, achieved great success in his studies and intended to become a soldier. Following a duel in which he killed his adversary, Sante threw away the sword to put on the Franciscan habit as a lay brother. The two virtues most dear to him were humility and penance. He was known for his great devotion to the Blessed Virgin, the Passion and especially to the Mass. Several times when he was prevented by his occupations from being present at Mass, the walls which separated him from the church opened and he was able without moving to see the priest at the altar. He died in 1290.
