True Friendship: A Gift from God

In the account of Our Lord’s cure of the paralytic, we see His words take effect instantaneously, unlike the gradual effect of any natural cure. The friends of this crippled man are one of the most startling parts of the story, because without them, and the great lengths they were willing to go to aid their companion, the paralytic would not have been absolved and cured. The account beautifully exemplifies how our own supernatural good is often tied to our neighbor. A true friend is a gift from God and is very rarely found. A true friend never counts the cost but gives of himself with nothing held back. Our Lord values our prayers for a friend more then we can ever know. Value your true friends in this life and be a true friend in return.
