Start Living Heaven Now

Trinity Sunday 2021
God has endowed us with an intellect that enables us to see the world around us and reason to its Creator.  However, we could never know about the inner life of the Blessed Trinity except that He revealed this to us by His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Before the Annunciation we were given indications of this absolutely supernatural mystery but not the clear teaching as the Second Person gave us.  Our Lord commanded the preaching of this truth and baptizing in the name of the Trinity just before His Ascension.  St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that God has left us many signs of the Trinity in our very nature and everything around us.  Our prayers and the liturgy express the Holy Trinity often.  The eternal Trinitarian life is ours when in the state of grace and is realized perfectly in heaven.

His Infinite Suffering

Holy Week begins with Our Lord’s triumphal entrance into His city, Jerusalem.  The outpouring of fervor by the pilgrims there for the Passover was increased by the recent raising of Lazarus from the dead.  The city, which did not welcome Him when the Magi came and announced His birth, did so now in such a way that His foes were left feeling powerless.  All would change by the end of the week and today’s liturgy shows that as well with the Passion.  First Communion today is an opportunity to receive Our Lord as the children of the Hebrews did many years ago.

Liturgy: Yesterday, Today and Forever

First Friday February 2021 – Feast Of St. Agatha
With the beginning of the Easter Cycle through the season of Septuagesima it is a good time to review what the Sacred Liturgy is and how it leads our spiritual lives through the purgative, illuminative and unitive states.  The Holy Mass is the highest form of prayer in the worship of the Mystical Body of Christ and this vocal prayer is also the springboard for mental prayer which culminates in contemplation.  An analysis of the liturgy, the essential element in the lives of all saints and the foundation of all of schools of spirituality, is a profound and deep one that should make us appreciate ever more the treasure we have been given.  The praying of the Rosary is our daily link to all these divine benefits.

The Epiphany And The Holy Family

Feast Of The Holy Family 2021
The crèche is a composite of many events surrounding the Nativity and culminating with the adoration of the Magi which is celebrated on the feast of the Epiphany.  The first Sunday after this feast is that of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  The Gospel tells the story of the finding of Our Lord in the Temple at the age of 12.  The Holy Family is a model of liturgical prayer for our families because of its fidelity and devotion to all the celebrations of the Old Testament like the Passover.  Our religious community has enjoyed the patronage of the Holy Family for 44 years and we are grateful for that and for all the assistance we have received from the faithful.

Call Upon The Name of Jesus

Feast Of The Holy Name of Jesus 2021
The Gradual for this Mass informs us that invoking the Holy Name of Jesus will bring us to Heaven.  The power, beauty and importance of the Name of God made Man has been taught through the centuries by holy people like St. Bernard and St. Bernadine.  The Apostles raised the dead to life by use of the Holy Name.  Jesus means Savior and by using the Holy Name we are invoking all the blessings of God and the Redemptive Incarnation on us, especially in moments of temptation and struggle.  It links us with Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist and sweetens our prayer life.  Ask your guardian angel to whisper the Holy Name to you often throughout the day.

Have Courage

Octave of Christmas 2021
As we face the unknown that awaits us during the coming year, we can take comfort in the divine promise that Our Lord will be with us always.  In addition, Our Lady of Guadalupe tells us through Juan Diego that she is our Mother and cares for us.  This octave day of Christmas renews all the joys of the Nativity.  It also commemorates the Circumcision and honors in a special way the divine maternity and the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Mother.  Finally, advice is given in the form of resolutions which will help us progress in our spiritual life in the days ahead.

Christmas Brings Freedom

Christmas Midnight Mass 2020
Despite all the efforts to lessen the reality and the message of Christmas by those opposed to God, we again celebrate the feast of Our Lord’s Nativity.  The Light has come into this world of darkness and brings truth, life and freedom from sin and its evil effects.  The Son of God, while retaining His divine nature, assumed a human nature and was born in Bethlehem from His ever virgin Mother.  His coming is just the beginning and instills the world with hope for a better future which will lead eventually to heavenly glory.  We must love this Holy Infant in return and pray and help those less fortunate than us to receive the graces offered at Christmas.

Warning Signs Of The End

First Friday Conference December 2020
Advent is the time of preparation for Christmas and the second coming of Christ.  The sacred liturgy has the ability because of God’s power to relive a past event like the Nativity, bring its graces to us in the present and prepare us for its fulfillment in the future with Our Lord’s return.  St. Matthew’s Gospel about the signs at the end of time is meant to warn us for the trials of those days.  St. Luke also gives these signs and encourages us to lift up our heads knowing that our redemption is near.  This conference then contains a listing and description of the signs of the times so we can be ready.

Does God Not Have Rights Too?

Feast Of Christ the King 2020
Pontius Pilate acted cowardly in today’s Gospel and what happened to him as a result is a good lesson for all of us.  This feast was established by Pope Pius XI who saw the attacks against Our Lord as undermining the fabric of civilization also.  This feast cries out to brave souls to defend Christ’s Kingship and restore society to the excellent footing it once had.
