7th Sunday after Pentecost 2018

During this season we are meant to put into practice all the lessons we have learned from the life of Our Lord. We have died to sin and given up our past life, and we now live in the grace of Christ. The Gospel for today is the conclusion of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. The gift of fear of the Lord helps us to actualize and operate the virtue of temperance. All the gifts of the Holy Ghost make us sensitive to HIs inspirations in our lives. Without faith we cannot bear good fruits, and without the fruit of good works we will be cut down and cast into the fire. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and we cannot help but foster a holy fear when recounting the visions of Hell witnessed by the saints. None of us will see the horrors of that eternal punishment if we put into practice the lessons of this liturgical season.
