We Rest in the Holy Trinity
Trinity Sunday 2026
Today we honor the very Essence of God. The dogma of the Holy Trinity is a supernatural mystery which our unaided human reason is incapable of discovering. Although it is true that the Son is begotten of the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son, this does not mean that any one of the Three Persons is superior to the others in any way. Countless prayers and invocations are directed to the Holy Trinity in the liturgy and the Divine Office, and it is in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost we are baptized. When we are in the state of grace, we rest in our Triune God, Who remains in our souls.
Today we also celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. Pope Pius XII instituted this feast, but from the earliest years of the Church Catholics have given her this honor. We pray that the Queen of the Universe may open our hearts to the grace of her Son. “The Son of God reflects on His heavenly Mother the glory, the majesty, and the dominion of His kingship.”
