Precious Blood 2018
Although promulgated for the Universal Church in modern times, the roots of the feast of the Precious Blood can be traced back many centuries. Pope Pius IX elevated the feast in gratitude to the Precious Blood for saving the Church and restoring the pope to Rome. The infinite value of His Blood comes from the Incarnation of Our Lord which makes His Blood divine. This is the quality that gives His Blood its salvific efficacy and ability to remove sin. God is appeased by the Blood of Christ which saves us. Let nothing be an obstacle to our reception of His Blood in the Holy Eucharist at Communion time.
