After a short rest and retreat and a pilgrimage to some of the French Shrines, de Montfort offered his services to the Bishop of his home diocese. As several priests were just beginning a mission in the town of Dinan, the Bishop sent him to join them. This mission and another for the soldiers of the garrison proved to be successful beyond all expectations and de Montfort was asked to preach throughout the neighboring districts.

At this time a strange incident occurred in de Montfort’s life, which we can understand only by recalling a prophecy made two and a half centuries before his birth.
