Our Lady of Guadalupe

The Sanctuary of our Lady of Guadalupe, a few miles north of the City of Mexico, is one of the most celebrated places of pilgrimage in the New World. Here, on December 9, 1531, the Holy Mother of God appeared to an Indian convert, and left with him a picture of herself impressed upon his mantle. The Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patronal Feast of Mexico, and is likewise kept with solemnity in the South and West of the United States.
